OK - I think I'm ready! Does it sound like I'm ready?
Comments (6)Glad I came back up here to look for replies! Yay! I got the good dirt! :D I had no idea what I was doing. The guy at the co-op recommended this. I knew we were anti-Hyponex and pro co-op mix, but that's all I knew. :) Uh oh...no styrofoam? Bummer. I just did a few, and so easy to poke holes in the bottom. I tried poking holes in the yogurt cup first and split it. Oops. I think a plastic container sounds like a good idea to house everything, drilling holes in the top. Do I also have to make drainage holes in the bottom? I do have a paint pen. It's one of those Deco-Color from Michael's craft store....See MoreI'm new here but I think you'll like this
Comments (19)Ah! Agapanthus. No, I do not think CT is too cold to grow this; I think I've seen it in nurseries. I just never grew it myself but now I may have to start, lol! Ann, I meant it - using the stems of this plant is a nice touch. I just sell my bouquets with elastic bands wrapped around them. I looked into those bouquet wrappers but I hate to use plastic, so I decided against them. I guess it doesn't make much difference since some customers ask for a plastic bag for the bouquets anwyway, but some don't, and some put the bouquets in their reusable bags. There was a company that kept touting compostable wraps/bouquet holders but every time I check with them they keep saying they are "in the works" and will be ready soon. So I gave up on that! Comments (14)Skibby, you use milkweed in food? I thought it was poisonous. Didn't it kill Abraham Lincoln's mother? I let it go one year and it bloomed late in the year along with the wild ageratum. Wove the two together for a very nice hair wreath for the local Renaissance Festival. I let the trumpet honeysuckle go on the steep bank in front of the house. I tried to landscape it one year and it was quite a comedy. See in your minds eye a fat old woman toppling over as she tries to dig with a spade. See in your minds eye a fat old woman sliding downhill on her butt as she tries to sit and dig with a trowel. See in your minds eye a fat old woman bracing her left foot against the anchored spade she holds with her left hand as she digs with that trowel. See her innocently sitting upright every time a car drives by. Not a juniper nor a daylily to be found from that planting session. I gladly leave the front bank to the weeds....See MoreThink Vintage, Think Cottage, Think... I'm lost & confused!
Comments (11)What a very pretty room! I second all the advice to take your time and to get something temporary for the time being. do you have a rug you are going to use in that room from which you could pull a color for the drapes? My two specific pieces of advice are to ignore the window to the far right that is next to the fireplace. I would maybe do drapes along the long wall, and then blinds on the window next to the fireplace. I wouldn't do the same treatment on both as that would look a little awkward. the other piece of advice is to check out this blogpost. It is (almost) the best bit of design advice wrriteen anywhere about any decorating topic in my opinioin! http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/2009/08/top-ten-design-elements-4.html She provides oodles of specific examples demonstrating why her advice makes sense. IMO nothing makes a room more cozy than drapes! good luck and keep us posted with what you decide. Here is a link that might be useful: Cote de Texas Curtain blog...See Moreldstarr
