Comments (15)Hello! The floor is by IVC, and is called Willow Creek Beryl. I believe the "Willow Creek" is a series that has individual colors/patterns, and mine is called "Beryl." Weird thing is, I just did a google search and was unable to come up with it, even on IVC's website! Here are a few links that may be helpful: IVC website: http://www.ivcgroup.com/ A list of dealers: http://www.designbiz.com/biz/BrandProfile.asp?CompanyID=89242&BrandID=962&CMDPage=local The chain I bought it from is in Sacramento,CA and the east bay area, CA. They have only had it for a few months, I think. The material was about $3/foot, or $27/yard, but comes in a roll 13.5 feet wide, so for small rooms, it can still get a bit pricey, since you have to start with a minimum purchase of 13.5' in one direction. I have a huge piece of floor left over for my parents to use. :)...See MoreHelped needed for cosmetic update to bathroom
Comments (7)You can do better than a laminate countertop and still stay in budget. Check out Craigslist and Habitat Re-Store. Check Craigslist once a day and when you see quality at a good price, pounce. We got a pure white stone (supposed granite but never saw pure white granite before) countertop, 61", double sink, sinks included, for $175. Just be patient. It took me about two months. You also can look for a longer Corian counter and cut it down to fit since your sink is offset. Even HD or Lowes will get you a cultured marble or solid surface countertop for a decent price. You might consider a big pedestal or console sink if you can do without the under sink storage, HD has a huge pedestal sink for about $124. That's if the flooring continues under your current vanity. It would expand the space so much, get rid of the blocky feeling and narrow entrance. Do wall storage instead, shelves or cabinets between studs. Some people here have done fantastic jobs painting faux granite countertops. A curved shower rod, chrome, no telescope line, white paint on all wood. I just painted our kids' bath a robin's egg blue - close to Palladian blue - it's so much better now! I can't believe I lived with the dreary white so long! It almost makes the dreadful marble laminate vanity and pea green sinks look good. The tub surround isn't integral to the tub, is it? Here is a link that might be useful: pedestal sink...See MoreBudget Bathroom Refresh
Comments (9)My old farmhouse growing up as beadboard in the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend it. Even with "bathroom paint", it's just not a great environment for it. I think a fresh color of wall paint would be more effective and make the travertine look better. I don't consider travertine dated; I think it jsut depends on what's going on around it. You could also paint the chair rail the same color, if the white is too jarring....See MoreVanity decisions for budget bathroom update
Comments (15)The house was built in 1999. There is a lot of wood throughout the house but the bedrooms and stairs are carpeted. The kitchen has a similar color in the cabinetry with black granite and is in keeping with that Tuscan-inspired vibe. I had originally wanted to redo the kitchen or at least have the cabinetry painted white but the cost just kept creeping up so in that project I am just changing the backsplash to white subway tile, adding a hood exhaust over the oven instead of the existing microwave, and painting the walls. We recently redid the master bedroom and it has a dark blue painted wall (Benjamin Moore Old Navy) and the bottom is wainscotting in Chantilly Lace with a four poster bed and heavy oak furniture (I will post a photo later)....See Morehoussaon
