Thank you for your tips. I am tempted to get a paint brush and do the graphic myself. I am limited to a 30 inch wide mirror. My concern is do I go with a rectangle or circle shape. the ceilings are 9 feet. I miss measured.

I can't be certain, but those mirrors all look way too small for your space.
I find myself confused about your style. You have a very rustic looking wood with that hickory (?) cabinetry, but you are going with a refined marble look with the counter and the sconce you like. Are you painting the cabinets? I am no designer, I am just going by the feel of the two together and the busy nature of the cabinet wood next to the also stripey countertop. One of the two should be calm, in relation to the other, I think. Then adding more stripey look in the metal in that sconce is way too much, in my mind. JMHO.

Painting starts tomorrow. The color is dovetail with black matte hardward; the widest mirror I can use is 30 inches. It is a powder room under the steps. I want a bit of drama in the mirror or the light, not both. I have an open concept modern farm house new build home. This is the one room I can escape do different.

What is the width of the mirrors you photographed? Or do you mean 30" tall is your limit? I am glad to hear that paint is coming!

I see 30" wide is your limit. 30" is plenty, really.

With your 9 ft ceilings and your sconces placed on the sides, I would go with a rectangular mirror. Those little round ones will look lost on the wall that size (I made a mistake like that with a clock on my fireplace. I ended up buying a metal decorative mirror with flower petal metal work around it to massively increase the size of the clock, and I velcro'd the clock in the center of the mirror! See the sunburst clock with the glass ''jewels" on the mirror? It was lost on this wall by itself.)

Beth has shown a lot of examples of the rectangular mirror and the side sconces. Look for something in similar dimensions to what she posted for you.

You will probably do better if you look at a bathroom store or site.

The beading on the mirror looks silver colored. If you don't like it, no problems at all. That flower petal mirror I bought was a dull antique brass when I got it and I bought some metallic paint in little sponge-on bottles and some metal paint markers and changed that really easily to make a shiny gold so the petals stood out more. A few coats later, I had a completely different look that stood out from my brick wall, instead of blending in with it. If you find you don't like the beading color, you can do the same, and finish with a wipe-on antiquing to get the black around the (now) gold beading. If you do this, just mask off the glass where you don't want the paint to go.

As for your wall, it will look better if there is something there behind your mirror and sconces. It will dress it up a lot. If you can't afford to do something right away, wallpaper and tile can both go on when your budget recovers. If it is not flat, can you ask your contractor to fix that?

Ondre, the mirror and sconces are very nice! I think you made a good choice.

As for something on the wall, you could always save up for a bit and go back to it. removing the mirror and lights is all you'd have to do.

I've also seen people who have cut sheets of plywood and used that as shiplap or a tongue and groove type of planks. I don't know if you can do DIY, but you'd need a table saw for this one. it's cheap, but it is a bit of work.

peel and stick wallpaper is also an option.

of course, tile is another.

you can always do it at a later time.

if it isn't too textured, you should be able to. something like a light 'orange peel' texture should be ok.

wall paper is expensive (depending on the type you buy) so I don't know if that's an option for you. The peel and stick paper is cheaper, but I don't know about quality.

StikWood is another option, but I think it runs around $10 a sq ft

I found this on a Home Goods Blog. The walls are faux shiplaped with wasabi tape. Tape, I tell ya! I may give it a whirl today and see if it looks good. Success will be posted, failure merely mentioned.

At least there is nowhere for the spiders to nest, when done that way!

It must have been a different thread, where people were giving the pros and cons of shiplap. I observed that those little spaces between the boards make great nesting spots for those house spiders that make little white fuzz-ball nests up where the ceiling and the wall meet.

With tape, that won't happen!

the gap between the boards is negligible. if doing real Tongue and Groove, it would also be small. It's not like you live in the Amazon! if you have that many house spiders that make nests, then perhaps it's time for an exterminator!

Dusting the boards w/a vacuum attachment once a month will take care of any problems.

I guess I have only seen this type. I do have little house spiders who make nests up by the ceiling. They are while, almost translucent, and hurt only small insects (so why would I poison my environment to kill them?), but my comments about shiplap have been whimsical attempts at humor. Sorry if that has not come through.

The lights are going up in my lil farmhouse!

So, this is the bath to Rowdy's den. It has a 9 foot ceiling. There is a window that allows tons of natural lighting. However, at night the room is pitch black. Y'all tell me, do these hang funny? If I flip them up, won't the lights cast light upward and leave the room below in shadow? I am in a pickle.

yes they do. you need a different base mount or lower the frame for the mirror. (can you push the lights back a bit?)

Ondre'a if you take down the light and just hold it, does it still have that slant? I thought the lights pushed forward because of the mirror frame beneath it. But after looking closer, I see it doesn't even touch the frame? No, it should not be slanted. the light should be perfectly straight, up and down. If there is no way to 'push' it back into place, then can you return it as defective?

whatever light you get, make sure it has more of a projection so it can clear the frame.

yes, it can be difficult. yes, find one that will sit 'out' over the frame, or find a simple style that doesn't have a 'hang-down' .

I found this exact mirror and am waiting for it to come back in stock. I can use brushes nickle hardware and nice that towel ring.

I have that sitting in my closet (or similar)! bought it at the very beginning and ended up not using it. Try Horchow or Rejuvantion.

I'd replace that towel ring with just a simple gold hook.

OMG Beth you know what I like.

The dumb budget forced me into the faucet choice.. but I did talk him into replacing the 2 cabinet pulls and towel bar. He will not go for the sparkle but I think I the lucite is duable. I am on the prowl for the towel bar. Love these mirrors too.
