To paint or not to paint..that is the question
Comments (9)Laurie and Laura, I am not a fan of grey concrete color either. A friend of mine did a clay piece, which I did not find interesting at all in the dry clay stage, however this is a piece she chose to have bronzed, and the effect of making it a color added depth and interest way beyond it's first stage. Often with pieces that have lines, patterns, textures I think adding a deep color into the recessed areas will add instant interest, then you can play with the rest. Laurie, even a light wood stain would flow into the crevices and highlight the form and added interest on top. Laura same for your globe, which by the way I have looked at many times. Starting with the ingrained texture lines and moving away from the globe for a second and third look will give you an idea of colors that will pique the interest of the onlooker. Because there is so much texture I would think fewer colors would be better. Just my thoughts, Dena...See MoreShould I paint the wood white?
Comments (8)If you just bought the house, you should live with the colors for a while. Your opinion may change over time. What wood are you referring to exactly? The cabinets? The molding around the room? Or both? If you paint the cabinets, you will need to find a color that goes very well with the countertop, and I am not sure white would be the best color with those countertops. As christophern points out, painting cabinets is a lot of work. Much more than you can imagine if you haven't done it before. I would think about painting the walls a lighter color. Or possibly darker. Post this on the Home Decorating forum for more opinions....See MoreNeed recs for a cream paint that's not yellowish.

Comments (4)The OP mentioned painting the burners, which will likely get warmer than 150°, so... I assume the painted burners are what @User was talking about as powder coating anything that has electronics in it seems beyond risky. Wood stove paint is formulated to exceed 500°, it comes in a variety of colors including a nice blue and ranges between $12 and $32 for a rattle can. I still wouldn't use it on burners but it is certainly a cheap alternative to having it powder coated....See MoreMark Bischak, Architect
