Need help designing window seat cabs beside corner fireplace
Comments (29)carol-well I CAN get to Canada from here quite easily...but I think it'd be easier travel with a snowmobile and that I do not have. ;) In our last home we had a fireplace in the corner and the TV on the adjacent wall with a sectional very similar to redroze. It did work out well but I think redroze's dimensions and your own being more square would make it all the better. Our 'TV' wall was much longer than the fireplace wall. I know that putting it in the corner does eat up more room and that is one negative but in our case it made the most sense and I really liked it. I felt like you could very comfortably watch the TV and get the warmth from the fireplace ("my" seat was of course the closest one to it). The TV wasn't massive and really didn't 'steal the show'. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the fireplace and the tv in one frame and we have moved on from there. I like Senai01's window seat pic - that is awesome. Too bad your window is too far removed, that would really work well otherwise....See MoreToo many tortillas; suggestions for something besides the usual?
Comments (15)These are so good....I've made them with apple and peach pie filling. I've also added walnuts. Apple Enchiladas 1 21 oz canned fruit filling 6 8 inch flour tortillas 1 tsp cinnamon 1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 cup water Spoon fruit evenly down center of each tortilla, sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up each, place seam side down in greased baking dish. Bring butter, sugar, brown sugar and water to a boil, reduce to simmer for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over enchiladas and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Top each with cool whip or vanilla ice cream. I also make these to serve with soup or just as a quick snack. I call them Cheese Crisps. Cheese Crisps Flour Tortillas Cheddar,Colby Jack, your favorite cheese Butter Salsa Lightly butter one side of flour tortilla & place in skillet on low/medium heat. Grate cheese of choice & spread over flour tortilla. Cook until cheese is melted & bottom of tortilla is lightly browned & crisp. Cut into wedges & lightly top with your favorite salsa. I hope you enjoy! Vera...See MoreLiving room pictures, would love your suggestions
Comments (49)Well...I need to find this layout program so I can not use so many words, but in the meantime... I'd try dividing the space into 2 areas, divided by the front door walkway. Both of my ideas involve moving that TV, though. I don't feel that TV is ideally placed for this room to function well... Option #1 - Move the TV and couch to the R side of the room. The TV/entertainment center (though I like TV's on the wall these days) could serve as the 'focal point' on that side of the room while the fireplace does the same for the other half. It's all about lounging/watching TV over there - while the L side provides a conversation area around the fireplace. I'd put a chair on each side of the fireplace (wing backs, etc) - which would also serve to hide that window unit. Option #2 - Move the TV over in front of the window unit. Put the couch facing the fireplace and perhaps a chair on each side with a coffee table/ottoman in the middle? The R side of the room then becomes a conversation area away from the TV. Or, a game table and chairs could provide another function. Or, if the family is musical, a piano and sitting area would be nice. Or, if the family is full of bibliophiles, bookcases along the perimeter and some cozy sitting areas for reading would provide a third option to help the house/room function. Or, I could shut my mouth and try to go play with the floor planner. Time to try to put my money where my mouth is. lol...See MoreLove my new lights! Update and breakfast nook suggestions
Comments (5)My table is 60 round. I am trying to get away from the bowl chandeliers as they seem to catch bugs and dirt. I thought about a drum chandelier but scared of them being too trendy and with the high ceiling I have to pay someone to change out the fixture so I am looking for something that I won't be tired of in a year. Easier said then done! Ha!...See Morecpaul1
