I can't access GW on my laptop

I'm on my crappy desktop. I can't access GW on my laptop. It says this site can't be reached, the to check the proxy and firewall. I have no idea how to do that.

Yet I can do banking, yahoo and any other site I want to get on.

I use WIN10 on the laptop and Windows 7 on desktop, but this just happened yesterday

None of my browsers would work. Yesterday I called my internet provider and he cleared my history, cookies and cache. Everything. Normally I just clear the cache. Now it's working. Simple fix, thank heavens. Usually I have tabs open of recipes that have caught my eye and they're opened tabs until I do something with them......print them, or write them out. I lost those as well, but that's pretty minor. I suppose having open tabs would slow the computer down as well.

No, that doesn't work. Gardenweb doesn't work at all on my laptop.

Snidely- I did that last night and it downloaded my pictures (that I took with the camcorder) and the videos as well. I can't open the files though. Zep- I went to the DXG's website but there's no driver for my camcorder; I chose the closest one- of course it didn't work. I'll call them tomorrow. Owbist- I'm using 2007; I did as you suggested and nothing would come up. I've always used Windows Explorer for other stuff but somehow, this doesn't work. Thanks again for all the help I've gotten. Great people here.

Thanks for responding. I just looked at the programs in the Uninstall window, and the only one I don't recognize is UPSMON Plus for Windows. Maybe it has something to do with my UPS account . . . in any case, it was installed in 2010, so it probably has nothing to do with this. A little while ago I was able to get to the KT without incident. I'm hoping this lasts. Thanks again.

Turn your computer on and instantly start Tapping the F8 Key and don't stop until you know you have a new screen. Select last known good configuration. Enter It's possible to get on the Internet using the Task Manager If a computer is working OK. The pics look like they are the correct way up from mobile devices even after they have posted. Looking from an iPhone or iPad everything looks perfect. Then you jump on the laptop and realize pics are sideways. This has been happening to a bunch of people. I look on my phone (like now for example), and see a thread where everything looks perfect - then I jump on the laptop later and see all the photos are sideways. So no, nothing you can do in a preview. It's a glitch between iPhone (and maybe other devices??) and Gardenweb.

Well, it doesn't seem like a Win 10 issue. My Windows 7 desktop computer suffered a fatal crash in late December, and as of two days ago I have a new desktop with Windows 10. No issues getting to Gardenweb. However, I cannot seem to upload a photo to a post here (which is why I only included a link in my response to the Everyday China thread).

Maybe it's a security setting?

Try a different browser sounds like a setting was changed.

On a Mac here, cannot see or upload photos on Firefox, but can do both on Safari. My Mac is totally up to date. A bit of a nuisance but I just use Safari for GW.

Try going to Houzz.com and then sign in again.

Did you find the problem? The other night I couldn't log in and when I tried again in the morning, it was fine.

Jasdip, is that something they walked you through or something at their end? I often have trouble with a few sites.

The first thing he did was clear my cache, history and cookies. I gave him remote access to my desktop. Only when my cookies were cleared, was I able to access GW. He said it's such a huge site and stores cookies. The frustrating thing was that I was able to do my banking and every other site, just not GW.

Try clearing your cookies and see if that works for you Terry.

Oh, so it has something to do with how many cookies a particular site saves. I will look into how to go about clearing them and possibly cache too. Thanks.

There's no reason to maintain cookies or site data after closing your browser.

If you're using Firefox, set cookies and site data to delete when closing browser.

Menu/Options/Privacy & Security/Cookies & Site Data.

Tick "Accept Cookies & Site Data

Then in the "Keep Until" box, choose "firefox is closed"

If you wish to do a major cleaning, visit the link below.

When you arrive at GW, it places about 15 cookies upon arrival and grows from there.

Does doing that improve speed? Mine is sluggish lately and I'm not sure how to speed it up.
