Gifts I received
Comments (10)Nice gifts, Rina! =) You did good on your hunt! 1. Looks like xPachyveria 'Exotica' 2. As everyone has said, Adromischus cristata 3. As others, Senecio kleiniiformis 4. As landruc said, Crassula 'Moonglow' 5. I'm inclined to say a Cotyledon ~when the buds bloom, we will know for sure. Then, might figure out which species. :) 6. It does look somewhat like an Echeveria 'Perle von Nurnberg' (flattened), but there's an outside chance it's xGraptoveria 'Fred Ives', blooms would confirm which one (not so pointy as I would expect)....See MoreJust received a gift.. fig..help
Comments (2)Thank you for the reply. She apparently bought it at a garage sale so it was a cutting from someones tree, sadly she can't remember the address.I have moved it to a very large pot and thought I should put it in the greenhouse over the winter then figure out what to do later, should I water it , feed it etc. It is quite tall with a trunk about the thickness of a Sharpie pen, it has five branches that are only about maybe a foot at the most long, with lovely shoots in the axils, then the growing tip is about the same. It is in excellent condition. Is there anyway of figuring out how old it is from this. XX Jeannine...See MoreReceived 2 bradford pears as gifts......
Comments (13)Icon, If you want a peace of mind, I suggest that you look at 'Nanjing Beauty' cypress. It is a cross between bald cypress and montezuma cypress. It doesn't produce knees like bald cypress does so that's a big plus and bald cypress is known as "hurricane" proof tree. Shantung maple is also a good one to replace bradford. Rated one of best wind and ice storm resistant conducted by Kansas State University. It didn't seem to be bothered much when Ike came through at my mom's house in Houston. Plenty of pine trees fell though. I'd never plant those pines! Live oak is a very strong tree against hurricane but they are really overplanted esp when we have oak wilt to worry about. Other oak species do decent against hurricanes when properly cared for. Here is a link that might be useful: Nanjing Beauty....See MoreI received a wonderul gift yesterday!
Comments (14)Jennifer, when I was going through them, I found 3 that were sewn together. They had some "paper" in the middle and were hand sewn together. I'll have to look into how to do that because there are a bunch of them! Also, there are a ton of strips already cut out. I was told they are for a log cabin quilt. From the amount of strips, it looks like I could do more than one quilt. And they are in all shades of the rainbow. She has them in trays divided up by colors, like one tray of blues, one tray of greens, that sort of thing. I'll have to really look closer to see what I have then decide what colors to use. Going through them prompted me to sort through some of my materials and add them to what was there since they were already sorted out. Boy, what a stack! I'll try and take a picture and show you guys!! I actually spent most of the afternoon working on projects (embroidery) I found buried in my stash of stuff. What fun!!
