2 weeks in NYC...my activity log...
Comments (10)You guys should have been there. It was not nearly as busy as it sounds , I was home in bed at a good hour almost every night but 2. I am not up for late night scenes without DH by my side. I had time to shower between ventures out and rest a bit. The doormen at my DB's building were so funny, they said where you off to now lady ? I always told them where I was going and carried ID and my cell. Manhattan is VERY safe all hours of the day and night. The NYPD is everywhere and people are so friendly. I also used common sense as to routes etc. As one police officer told me, folks expect Manhattan to be safe and it is a very big responsibility but they meet it very well. The only crime is pick pocket stuff on tourists by Times Sq etc. I have never gone anywhere and been on my own like this in my life...never. My first bike was a Schwinn 50 years ago when I was 7. I was so happy to have another one....life has a way of making circles that are joined with other circles. I met so many folks from Alabama....I was eating a NJ peach at the green market and commented on Chilton County peaches...yep there was a Chilton County boy right there next to me. The guy on the row behind me was a grad of Univ of Al and teaches in Conn. There were girls and their Mom from right by my home town in Ohio standing next to me at the fireworks....the guy leading the bike ride on Sunday bought a house on Chartres and Spain St. in N.O . just up the street from where I lived in 1971....life is a circle....c...See MoreWhite subway in bathroom AND kitchen? Comments (10)blackchamois - thanks so much! I did use soapstone on the perimeter counters - absolutely love it! I also considered leathered black granite as well, but agree that a dark gray would be warmer/softer. I did think the solid black was a bit strong. The walls are SW Maison Blanche. We did this throughout the house. We did paint the kitchen ceiling the same Maison Blanche as well but didn't necessarily do that in every room throughout the house. The farm sink faucet is Rohl Country Bridge in Satin Nickel and the island is the Moen Brantford also in Satin Nickel. I did not match my hardware to faucets! My hardware is antique nickel on the white cabs and then ORB on the island. And, my pendants are antique nickel finish as well. Let me know if you have any other questions - I know how overwhelming all the decisions can be :)...See MoreA foodie's dream come true -- eating at the kitchen table!

Comments (29)An old Martha Stewart color from Sherwin Williams called Pemetic Trail 8081. No chips at SW but for $7 you can get a Color To Go jug to sample it. You can get a full spectrum version from Ellen Kennon, it's called Powdered Pebbles. And, yes, chips and pics will pop up in Google searches. But I'm sure you know by now that you can not judge color by what you see on your monitor, phone, tablet, etc. It's impossible for a device to duplicate paint colors. Impossible because devices emit colored light to your eyeballs. Which is completely different from how in real life color works. In real life color, like paint chips, is reflected to your eyeballs. You should never, ever use a monitor or screen of any kind to evaluate or compare paint colors. You must get a chip. Tapestry Beige by the way is from the middle of the yellow hue family. Here's the color notation: Hue 4.43 Y / Value 8.40 / Chroma 1.06 Middle of the yellow hue family means it's a good ways away from the Green-Yellow hue family and its overtones of green. It has a chroma more than one which is another indicator that it's unlikely to show an edge of greeness. But the inherent quality of light ultimately decides what it's going to look like. Grab a chip or sample and see what it looks like in your space....See MoreRachel Lee
