Sorry for the absence, I was so busy yesterday. Okay, lots to digest here. I have to admit that I love how the chest looks in the foyer. I feel like it gives the foyer presence. I will try to move it into the living room to see how it looks there though. The bench with the mirror hanging above would look nice. I have the mirror on the floor in the dining room because I thought I would hang it above a buffet (once I can afford one). As far as the big painting in the corner of the LR, I can't figure out where to put that. In the old house it hung above my couch. I'm thinking of maybe hanging it above my bed now. It seemed too large for the corner space in the LR. I do have a lot of other paintings (mostly smaller ones) that I have to figure out where to hang. I'm so scared of making holes in my newly painted walls that I am having huge commitment issues!! It is so hard to decide what to put where and I tend to change my mind a lot ;) As far as the plant, I agree it is looking pretty sparse. It went into shock when we moved, I am trying to coax it back, it may take awhile though. Another question, do you think the painting is too small for over the fireplace? I also have these ceramic candleholders, would they look good on either side of the painting? Also, do you envision curtains or roman shades for this room? If we were in there at night, I would close whatever was there for privacy from the street. Thanks!

Well, this is what I've done. I put the chairs that were originally there, back. I love these chairs -- they were a CL find, and they were in front of the FP until I moved them to the "conversation area" that, yes, is cozy aka crowded, but that arrangement works better than others I've tried. Tucked away over there, they weren't as easy to admire! I think they are back in their rightful place. I still need to get a rug, which may have to be an indoor-outdoor type until our elderly dog....dies. I have the wicker chairs back over by the sofa, but that's temporary. When I find the right chairs to replace them, I will move them over to the puzzle table.

I agree with necessity of UCL for your counter top workspace... Not a kitchen, but in our livingroom (with 8'4") ceilings we recently removed the (short) rod-hung ceiling fan (similar to what you have in your photo), and replaced it with a prettier carved-wood "hugger" (no hang) ceiling fan (gain in both aesthetics and head clearance), and installed a set of four small dimmable slightly recessed LED lights, that illuminate the space much better than the ceiling fan kit-light ever could have. A antiqued mirror might be better if you want a mirror since it doesn't reflect anything pretty? Do you have chandelier in this room. If not, repeating the look of the chandelier would be very nice and then the stairs and gallery wall would peek through for an interesting overall view. Kirkland's had their mirrors on sale and there are some nice ones. Need a big one though for that scale fireplace wall. Pretty fireplace stone and wall!
