Yes, the mosaic is bordered by a thin limestone pencil tile. The white tile is thinner than the mosaic, so the pencil tile makes a nice transition between the two. This is not our tile, but it's the picture that inspired what we did with the pencil tile. Laying the tile out on the livingroom floor, just a single tile width, really helped to visualize what pattern we liked. I was going to do a full sheet of masaic (12") as the stripe, but when I laid it out it looked like too much mosaic. We played with the widths of the mosaic by cutting one sheet into 3" rows and adding or taking away sections to make different width strips. Doing this, coupled with taking the width of the cuts neccessary for the white tile into consideration really helped to visualize the look.

I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero.

My opinion will be biased because I have very similar tile in my master we redid 12 years ago. 4" squares on the diagonal for the shower floor and 12" squares on main floor and up the shower walls. Coincidentally we are in process of redoing my kids' bath the past few weeks (it was also redone 12 years ago) because a hard-to-find leak in the tub prompted us to consider replacing it....which then brought about the issue of replacing the tiled tub-surround that would be damaged...and we would also have to try to retile some spots on the floor because a new tub would be a smaller footprint leaving some bare spots once old tub was pulled out. My point is that we also had to figure out the whole, "do we do an updated 'patch job' to save a lot of money, or do we just gut it and accept the cost as the price of being at peace with it/enjoying a new look and improved function. Right or wrong...which is always a very subjective thing....we gutted it and I'm thrilled. I was not interested in painting my cabinets just to have them have peel-issues due to steam, and we also got rid of the tub altogether and opted for a stand-up/walk-in shower for my older kids. Resale was considered on this issue...but by the time we move, someone can either love it as we've made it, or we will price the house with an "allowance" in mind. The old space had hot-chocolate colored walls and 'slate' porcelain floor and tub surround...an overall warm and cozy feel but also tired and dated. The new space is a porcelain 'marble' hex with white subway walk-in shower that is awaiting glass doors...an overall calming feeling that is also bright and fresh. I now actually wish SO BADLY that I was able to redo/retile MY whole bathroom (tile similar to yours). And there's nothing wrong with my bathroom, and a planned paint job on the walls will help me like it even more...... In my kids' bathroom, however, even unfinished with the floor and shower tile installed just waiting for the rest to come together (waiting on backordered tile base moulding) ......... I walk in and just smile and breathe deeply because of the way the space now makes me feel :) So my very biased vote is to gut it ;) ;)

I quite like it, especially all the wood. I for sure like it more than my own hall bath -and there I indeed went with a long-as long as I could find and afford- curtain, and bigger rug covering almost all the floor, and I picked hand knotted wool rug too-they withstand moisture well actually, and they do elevate places they're used in, being real and pretty rugs. That's if you want to see less of the tile including Ivy accent and all If you're ready to embrace it-and you're not against fluid patterns like florals or the like-I'd still find a nice shower curtain that has a pattern and colors on it that kinda support this ivy and yes, make it all look more intentional and maybe playful even, but that's on you to decide-do you hate-hate the ivy, or are you ok with letting it be part of the game? Are you ok with patterns that are more floral etc, or it something you strongly don't prefer? Geometrical bold patterns you have now are not bad-but they contradict ivy a bit. And they win-but ivy's still there trying to fight. So. I'd either go for colors and patterns that are more "hey ivy let's stand together in the circle"-or if I don't want much to do with Ivy nor with the main tile-I'd go for softer colors in accents too, picking clues from tiles and wood, less bold and contradicting, more repeating. I see tile as a bit golden beige, a bit tan, a bit cream-so these would be my colors. Then it'll still be intentional. The color you have now on the walls works quite well-making it darker as suggested might look very cool too. I might want to check out this route, samples and all. It's a good idea also to paint/switch mirror if you're up for this. Tell us a bit more about your personal preference, and I might be able to look up something more specific. In terms of accents And of course if you decide to paint-it's a good opportunity to change the lights, that said, if you don't like yours. I can't see them well on the photo. I'm quite envious of your cabinets and wood paneling on the bathtub, I'd have fun decorating your bathroom. Regardless the fact it not my favorite tile, or the ivy accent which I wouldn't have picked myself etc-it's still a nice place to work with I think.
