I've done that too...I separate them and see which make it which don't.

I have a snake plant in my exercise room that is huge and it even blooms. I can't believe it but it came out of a little dish garden...maybe 6" in diameter... I got for DH over 35 years ago. All the other plants died, but this one keeps on going and going.

I got another dish garden from my cousin for my Mom's memorial and the only thing that survived was the spathiphyllum which I've since split in two and are happy in very large pots in the DR.

Nice! I think you'll enjoy it much more this way.

I have part of a plant that I send for my bosses funeral. I opted for a plant arrangement instead of flowers...I just couldn't see tossing dead flowers after. The arrangement had come back to our office and we had it there for a while, I pulled out one plant that lasted the best and repotted it, still keeping it at the office. Eventually I brought it home because it needed a bigger pot. Still have it 11-12 years later :-) I was just noticing it's gotten taller but sure has take a LONG time...it probably needs an even bigger pot.

I like that anthurium and the shelf. I received a dish garden in 2008 when my dad passed. It had 3 different plants, a peace lily, a pothos, and something I can't remember the name of right now. I just separated them a few years ago. They managed to live in their little plastic container for that long. But, they are really growing now!

Annie, I gave my sil part of my snake plant that I'd had forever. She sent me pics of it blooming that summer. I didn't even know they bloom. Mine did start blooming the next year. I love that little flower.

They look so much better separated, to me anyway. Nicely done!

You have such a green thumb, Jas. I feel like an idiot admiring the shelving unit your plants are sitting on; I have put mine in wrong areas because I don't have lovely sills upon which to set them. Nice and airy--is it sturdy?

Sjerin, I've always loved plants and I usually do well with them. I would have more, but even though we have lots of windows and lights, the rooms aren't big, so there's little place to put them. That, and Bud the eternal plant chewer.

I fear the peace lily is going to grab his attention and it will soon have ragged tips.

The stand started life as a shoe rack, that's what it is sold as. It's our 'end table'.

Jas, The Anthurium will live forever, even with neglect! It is one of my favorite plants because it blooms almost all the time and comes in so many pretty colors and leaf sizes, from mini to gigantic. It's a real trooper in my opinion.
