well, if the rooms are large enough, there's always the idea of putting wardrobes, etc., in the room itself. And you might consider trying the Container Store's closet-design service--I think you can use their website to send them a closet dimension, and they can help you figure out Elfa storage systems to make it work. Is it possible to move the door toward center of the walk-in closet? Double rows are a pain, but hanging on one side and shallow shelves/drawers on the other could work very nicely--sort of a "galley kitchen" effect. Most design places will tell you to allow 24" for hangers w/ clothes on them, but you don't need *quite* that much if space is tight. well, no, wait a minute, I was thinking 48" wide, not 42". 42" is probably just the teensiest bit too narrow for that. My reach-in closet is a bit wider than the doorway on each side, so it's not much more than 42". That' enough for me, frankly--there are sections of it I don't touch. Give yourself a few minutes to really look at your huge walk-in closet now, and see how much of that stuff you really use, and how much is just there because you have the space. You could perhaps hang the rod in the back, and then where the FRONT rod would be, use instead one of those clothes racks on wheels, bcs it will slide from side to side when full. And you could perhaps make greater use of the side walls--one side could perhaps hold clothing rods (the Elfa system will let you put a rod in a place that doesn't have a side wall). And the other side wall could have shelving or maybe even drawers, depending how shallow they are. It means the stuff in the corners would be harder to get to--not impossible, but harder.

Don't know Closets by Design but I have had California Closets do 5 closets for me in 2 homes over the years. Three reach-ins and 2 walk-ins. Their ideas were great and their work was commendable. I am lucky to be close to their showroom and saw some pull-out clothes hampers that we incorporated in our current place. LOVE them. The installer was efficient and he emphasized their work is all guaranteed for the life of the installation… call them any time with a problem. Never needed to do that but good to know. For identical plans and installation California Closets' pricing was about 15% below their competition for the two walk-in closets done last year. (I don't remember costs for the work they did over 10 years ago.)

Indeed you have alot of circuits but dont be concerned with the quantity nor the total of all the beaker amps added. example being those 4 water heater @ 40 A will only draw initiaily at startup and would probably never all run together ever again. The suggestion that induction cooking draws alot is incorrect as it is extremely efficient and draws uses much less energy than a conventional cooktop (just look as the amp rating) youll likely need two panels for the breaker space. The unknown factor you havent detailed is whats going on in those outbuilings. If they sre for blown woodworking shops lets say, then all bets are off. At that point you might consider just bringing in a separate service to the outbuidings. Its done all the time at would be less costly. Just food for thought.

Mark's plan is definitely a good one, but moving the bed can't happen. We realize it's a little tight with a queen bed, but we are okay with that and can make it work. She might not be a shoe maven but she would tell you this is the most important room in the house because it is also where she will do yoga. The 8'x8' clear space at the foot of the bed is the yoga space. Hence, where I've provided a sliding door that opens up to the forest and the large floor-to-ceiling east facing window with a mountain view. It's her retreat, and we can't mess with it. We weren't planning on having free standing dressers in the bedroom but I'm really loving the idea of built-ins under the stairs. This is such a great idea and why I love bringing questions to this site! I would want to keep the access to the storage space under the stair landing but the rest of that wall and the short wall next to the door would be available to use. Maybe some shelving on the short wall next to the door and two sets of drawers on the long wall?
