We have a window like this in a bedroom. We’ve replaced the whole window bottom and half moon once because the seal broke on the half moon due to the hot sun shining on the half moon and rotting the window frame. Then we just replaced the half moon part with new glass and that room gets unbearably hot or cold now. We can’t pick up our house and turn it. lol I’m not sure what to do to fix this. The builder should have never put that half moon window on the house. Only a regular two panel window. I wish there was an easy fix to just get rid of the half moon and still make the front of our house look nice.

Have a UV window film applied to the top arched portion. It looks clear but will block the heat and glare. That allows you to put whatever type of shade you prefer on the lower part of the window. A second option would be a drapery rod above the entire window, with drapery panels on the outer sides of the windows that you could pull fully closed when needed.

You thought that installing black windows would update the house. Did it? I don't think you can brick in an arch without a lintel to support the weight of the brick and you don't have them I don't think the black windows complement the color brick you have. Now it's time to look into limewashing the brick. See images below. Painting the arch is the simplest and cheapest solution. Don't have tunnel vision about this project. Do the rest of it and the painted arches will work out just fine. You need $$$ for a new landscaping plan so remember to budget for that.

Looking at your setup from that second angle suggests you’d have proper clearance on the left but now I wonder about the right side The space on the right is limited by the protruding fireplace “trim” (the mini “hood” above the fireplace opening and the detail below the opening). To see what might work you could purchase a 96” or 104” drapery panel, (whatever appropriate length) hold it up at height rod would be, and see if it hangs ok. Does it look squished, left to right by the fireplace? Does it hang freely? A heavier fabric panel will take up more soace, especially if it’s lined. Maybe a cotton canvas but no lining, or a blackout panel would fit. To help you decide about adequate space, consider the function of the slider. Do you open it a lot? Is that outdoor space a spot you use all the time, or does the door stay primarily closed and youre not going theough that door much. The right panel could hang partially over the door handle (door seldom opened) or it could hang so it fuly clears the door handle (use door all the time). Alternatively, you could mount a shade over the arched window that is long enogh to cover the sliders when shade is let down. (Prob requires a custom made at this length). Whether a shade or drapery, the slider door handle and limited width and height of space will inform your decision as Im sure you already know. Either woud work, but neither are ”perfect”. But perfect is seldom needed. The pros have great advice; maybe they‘ll weigh in
