Wireless light switch for switched outlet?
Comments (47)The reviews on Amazon don't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. :) There's only 6 reviews and half of them are bad. That is, if you read the actual review. There are a couple of 4 stars that don't sound like they should be 4 stars if you read the comment. Now that it actually exists, I wonder how many people are willing to spend 30 bucks plus shipping for it. As a side note, this thread seems like one that lots of people feel the need to sign up for a Houzz account, make one comment on this thread pointing everyone at SwitchFlip and then not participating in any other discussions. Is it possible that these people have an ulterior motive in promoting this product? :)...See MoreCeiling Fan Wiring with Two Switches, 1 to a Half Switched Outlet
Comments (2)Assuming you want to keep the switched outlet separate from the fan and light operation, you need another switch. If you want the outlet to be on the same switch as the fan light then you can proceed with two switches. "1b, 1w, 1r, 1g going to the outlet". Is this a 3-way outlet? That is, is there another switch elsewhere that controls the outlet?...See MoreReplacing on/off switch for gas fireplace w/ combo switch/outlet?
Comments (7)Well, all it not quite lost. If there is 120V going to the fireplace (most likely is the case) and you can use something else to turn on and off the fire place (many come with an optional remote control or such), you may be able to abandon this as a remote control for the fire place and reuse that piece of wire to feed the receptacle. Of course, it's probably as easy to run a proper receptical. If you can get in to the attic above or craw/basement below, it's not even likely to be beyond the means of a competent DIYer....See MoreReplacing 50-yr-old switches & outlets?
Comments (9)Thanks, ronnatalie. I was looking at a site that talks about converting a 2 prong outlet to a 3 prong, and the article mentioned what you just said -- that "Harry" could have incorrectly put in a newer 3 prong outlet in an old 2 prong box, so one should be on the look out for that. Just because the outlets are 3 prong on the outside, doesn't mean the innards are correct, so to speak. Anything to be on guard for regarding light switches?...See Moretatts
