Staining White Oak Floors

I need a stain that is a natural, or neutral. The contractor is putting down a varnish on the white oak (that ended up having more grain than expected) and it is warming it up almost too much and adding a orangey brown/tan feel instead of the natural matte feel I'm wanting. I don't want it to be "unfinished totally" just natural with the nice lighter white hue it comes with naturally almost like if it were just rubbed with wax to seal but to keep the same color. ???

Photo of single board is the original wood plank which color I like and would like to get close to! Thank you for any thoughts, and advice!
