i emailed the jason rep to find out what exactly the lumbar thing means for $200 more, and haven't heard back yet, but now my husband said i had to choose between white and bisque UGHH more decisions lol. i definitely think i want to stick with the jason because compared to the other tubs in the showroom it was amazingly quiet. to answer the question-i think mainly it will just be me in the tub. my husband has not taken 1 bath in the 15 years i have known him and i don't see him starting. we were supposed to do this project 2 years ago but right before starting i was diagnosed with cancer and had to go through chemo and radiation which left me with arthritis in my hips, and all over body aches, this the reason i really want to make sure i get the right tub, it is definitely for therapeutic reasons. i have a very good prognosis, and am excited we have the opportunity to work on this again, and i just want it all to end up cozy and warm and inviting, and i am struggling with the floor plan, the color of the tub and shower etc, the fixtures color, the trim color, and i don't have very long to decide!! Scary!! p.s. i really think the chromatherapy thing is neat. i know it may seem silly to some, but i think i would enjoy that. It is $200.00 more, do many of you have it and do you think it was worth it?

I started out on that same page, but the saleslady at the bath store I went to advised me against the one they sold there. She said the showroom owner had it in his house and hated that it was so noisy. She said that the freestanding whirlpool was much noisier than the built-in models because of the motor placement. I don't know if that's 100% true or not, since I didn't actually hear the tub working, but since I know I would hate a tub with a noise problem, I ruled that model out. Not saying you might not love it -- just that noise may be an important factor to consider when selecting your tub and installing it.

Our teardown had a Jacuzzi whirlpool tub. We kept it and put it in the guest bathroom. Master bath has UltraBain airjet tub that I use a lot. DH is a shower person, so the airjet tub is "Goldilocks-just-right" size for me. Do "try one on". I wanted one where I could brace my feet and not slide under the water unless I wanted to deliberately dip under. I've appreciated the "arm rests" and saftey handles since I've had some hip and knee troubles. Also be sure you have enough, but not too much, tile around the tub so that you can get in and out easily. Position the faucets and spigot to be within reach, but not obstructing your entering and exiting the tub. I like having the sprayer attachment at the tub to rinse it out. I enjoy the airjet tub regularly, but if I am hurting, the Jacuzzi waterjet tub makes a real difference.

I would urge you to be really careful with jet tubs. I have had nothing but problems with my Bain Ultra jet tub. My tub would turn on randomly throughout the night, so I would be in bed and hear air rushing from the tub in the middle of the night. Within a year of installation the lights on the keypad stopped functioning. Called their customer service department and they will not honor their warranty. Apparently their electronics and keypads are poorly constructed. The Bain employee I spoke to suggested I replace the tub altogether.
