Any brand of shelf liner that is 15 inches deep???
Comments (8)I have shelf liner on all my painted shelves in my old pantry. Makes sense to me. So easy to remove it to wash it in the kitchen if something leaks or spills. And the one I use "cushions" crystal when I set it down rim first. I also used it to line drawers and cabinets in new kitchen. Again, makes cleaning easy. I would order "Cushy Cupboards" --see link below to a recent discussion--in 24" width and cut it to fit with a yardstick and a razor blade. The 24" width fills up shelves quickly and it lies flat and even without cut edges curling up. It is a little pricey, but I have found it very worth every penny. Comments (26)Thanks for all of the responses! I'm glad to hear that this has worked for most of you. I found a RTA cabinet online that looks to be the same finish and door style as her vanity. They are in separate areas so even if it's not a perfect match it could work. Since it is RTA I'm thinking we could cut it all down on the table saw before putting it together. The other option would be to build as is and recess into the wall as many of you have suggested. The biggest issue being that our master bedroom is on the other side and I don't think it would be possible to remove the studs and reframe and not have to replace the drywall on the other side, which is probably more work than I could talk DH into. I'm also going to look into just purchasing doors and a couple of 3" filler strips in the color I'd need, build our own box to a depth of 8-9 inches and then make a face frame out of the filler strips and attach the doors....See MoreDecorative hood over microwave over stove
Comments (49)Tammy, I personally think your idea is a good one. I lived in a custom home-3900 sq. ft. and had my microwave put over the cook top with intention. Loved it!!! Made cooking a breeze. I entertain a lot and have tons of company frequently. It worked well. We're currently building another custom home and I'm putting my microwave back over the stove again. This will be my 3rd microwave over the stove. It is vented outside our home. I have never had problems with this and I've had it for 16 yrs. I think you're a smart cookie making use of the space you have and dressing it up a bit too. I like unusual things and really don't like being like anyone else or having my home look like anyone else's. It's easy to go with the crowd but more fun to stand out and do what you love and what suits you and your style....See MoreFinal kitchen!!!: white cabinets, dark floors
Comments (61)It's over a year later, but I thought I'd update everyone on how we feel about our kitchen. We continue to love it. The only things we'd change: practically nothing! The design and flow has worked well for us through the last 12 months. The only things my husband and I have ever-so-briefly mentioned in the past has been the addition of a potfiller at the stove (but my husband, the cook, said it isn't necessary even though he has to take 5 steps from sink to stove), and having the garbage disposal be on the LEFT drain of the sink rather than right (which is my left-handed self being picky about how I do the dishes). We had some brief concern about the dark floors, but they are still lovely and comfortable. We do have to sweep and clean them quite often, but that's okay. That's what the kids are for, right? *lol* HollyRu - as for your question as to what's to the right of the sink, we have a 12" cabinet, our black dishwasher, and then the turn to the winerack. The second rack you see is actually a reflection of the real one on the black dishwasher. When the dishwasher is open, it's a breeze to put away the bowls and plates, which go in the two large dish drawers visible on the same photo....See MoreHU-378640540
