Comments (25)Looking at Oreo passed out on the pillow, I realize now that I need to pick up two Fall pillows for my sofa. I have Xmas ones to go there. I'm sure she won't care if I replace 'her' pillow with another one. LOL. Yach, the geese are my favorite thing also. I love them, still can't get over how cheap they were. My kind of bargain. Cherie, my DH like yours....so it's usually just me and the invisible "genies" here too. LOL hugs, Karen...See MoreBefore And After Fireplace And A Few Questions
Comments (11)Yes -- quite beefy (LOL!) dark rods -- hung quite close to the ceiling would work with the suede curtains suggested by Jen. Consider painting the small table by the single chair to satin black (distressed) to work a bit better with the "heavier" visual weight of the other furniture and colors. Perhaps switch the tablecloths to a simple creamy white for the summer months? For the winter months perhaps switch to a heavier deep red to work with other reds in the dining room? And co-ordinating cushions? A stronger (visually!) black chandelier would look amazing over the dining table -- try removing the glass globes and adding simple chandelier shades and lower it so that it has better contact with the table....See MoreFireplace before and after pics
Comments (6)Yes it is a working fireplace, but we live in California so the logs would be mostly decorative for most of the year. On days actually cold enough to want a fire, there is almost always a "spare the air" day and burning is banned! I am also very allergic to smoke which always makes its way inside even from a properly vented fire. So as much as I love the ambiance, it will probably only be lit for special occasions. I may burn some gel fuel cans in there behind the logs, too. Thanks for the feedback :) The color is BM Mexicana, BTW, with Mascarpone on the neutral walls. The tile I don't love it but it blends a bit more with the new paint color and the mantel. I am going for a Spanish Mission style since the townhouse is mission style with red tile roof and off white stucco exterior!...See MoreFireplace--Before & After
Comments (18)Thanks to all of you for the lovely compliments. Parma42, I completely understand regarding the recession, although without it, I don't think I would have received such low estimates on labor. The carpenter still made more than $1000 for a week's worth of work, after deducting for materials, but it's far less than the price I was originally quoted when I first moved. I also wanted to do stone but felt it would have overwhelmed the space not to mention my bank account....See MoreJamie Ludwig
