Building a Home Windows

New Construction Windows - Need LIGHT Color

We are building a new home in the Houston area. Our HOA won't let us put in white windows, but our home is an acadian/colonial design which we, and our designer, feel calls for classic light-colored (cream or ivory)windows to give it a historic feel. We are using an Old Texas Brick and feel that dark windows (approved by HOA) may give it a commercial look. We are now searching for an alternative to the Andersen 100 which were in the bid because they don't come in a color we like. Our builder came up with Marvin Integrity (no cream) and Jeld-Wen which get ripped apart on these forums so I'm afraid to use them. I'm asking him to get a bid for Marvin Infinity but they may be out of our budget.
I am also open to vinyl suggestions. I knew zero about windows a week ago and everything I've learned has been from the professionals commenting on Houzz. If you can help with a window appropriate for a higher end neighborhood in a humid climate, I'd be very appreciative!

The Infinity is a product that is aimed more at the remodel/retrofit market as compared to new construction. The "Stone White" from Marvin is definitely in that "cream or ivory" family of colors.

Kristy Lewis, You might want to take a look at Kolbe's colors. In an off-white, we have Cloud, Abalone and Natural Cotton, and of course we can do custom colors. It's very difficult to determine colors on a computer screen, but here is our exterior colors page: https://www.kolbewindows.com/solutions/style-design/exterior-colors. The Natural Cotton here looks a bit dark on my screen; try going to our gallery page https://www.kolbewindows.com/gallery. For Natural Cotton, type "AF30" into the keyword search -- that home is a pretty good example. For Abalone, type in "AE9." For Cloud, you can simply type in "Cloud." You are not exactly choosing the cheapest window if you are looking for a color to the exterior and wood to the interior. Marvin Integrity is probably the best of the bet in that case.

I did get confirmation that all models can be used in new construction with the proper nailing flange accessory like wow said. Any opinions on which model is the better value? I'm in SC and will have plantation shutters on the inside of almost all windows so the frames won't be very visible from the inside. I do want a good looking (as good as a vinyl window can be)exterior frame. These will be going on a traditional brick house - new construction. I'd greatly appreciate any advice.

I would stay with The Brickmould 600; the sash on the window is more attractive than the ProFinish Contractor assuming you are installing double hung windows. The Brickmould on the 600 is not much wider than the J channel on the ProFinish so I don’t think the PF Contractor will be appear much narrower Upgrading the glass spacer to Supercept will marginally improve the energy efficiency of the window.

I found the NFRC website helpful in learning the vocabulary, and other basics of windows. They have a "Windows 101" page, a page for what the energy ratings mean, anatomy of a window, and other instructional information for non-professionals. Perhaps looking at the NFRC website may help you narrow down the type of window you want (casement, double-hung, slider, etc.), and then also read posts on this Windows Forum about pros and cons of wood-clad vs. vinyl, and other information. Once you have all your information, there is nothing like visiting showrooms to see the windows in person - it really helps make decisions when you can open/close them, see them close-up, look at how they're built, etc. National Fenestration Rating Council
