Pothos: Repot or Trim Roots?
Comments (23)Ohh KAREN! (mock exasperation) ;o) Radio signed his name R Squared. I signed the next post Pi, because the formula for determining the area of a circle is Pi x R squared (3.14 x radius x radius). Patann said, "Why oh why didn't I read this post BEFORE I gave my tropical hibiscus away? Oh, SCREAM!!!!" ... which translated means "I wish I'd have read it sooner." Being silly, I just pretended to go along with the question as if it was asking for a literal answer and said, "I give up - why (didn't you read the post before)?" ... just taking advantage of a hundred year old post to have a little fun. If you think YOU'RE confused, just think about how ol' Doug E is puzzling over finding some of this nonsense in his mail. ;o) (Waving at Doug E and returning Mr S's salute from the other day.) ;o) Later. Comments (19)I have never seen one, but now that I looked it up, I think you are both right about it being a D. surculosa. Looking it up seems to suggest it's a fairly easy to grow houseplant (moderate watering, bright indirect light to filtered sun, moderate fertilizer levels), and that it will fill out (it suckers so will get a bamboo clump look if happy). I will let people who may be more familiar with it give more advice. Well-draining potting mix for all the things you have showed pictures of so far, by the way. There are very few plants that like to be soggy (Persicaria odorata, Papyrus and relatives), and none of these are among them....See MoreHave Epipremnum pinnatum 'Cebu Blue' & Hoya obovata cuttings for trade

Comments (6)The yellowing leaves will wither on their own as the plant sucks all remaining nutrients out of the leaves. It is not necessary to remove them, but you can if they really bother you. The leaves are likely yellowing as a result of over-watering. Most commercial potting mixes are overly water retentive. How do you decide it's time to water? How do you water when you do? Good watering practice is to insert a wooden dowel or bamboo chopstick all the way to the bottom of the soil - checking the soil with your finger only evaluates the top inch, the bottom soil could still be quite soggy, therefore suffocating the roots. If the dowel comes out wet with soil clinging to it, the soil is still wet and it is not time to water. Check every few days until the dowel comes out clean and dry. Then water thoroughly so that water flows freely out of the drainage holes in the bottom. Don't water again until your dowel is reading dry again. Good luck!...See MoreSophia Elizabeth
