Large & awkward master bedroom needs TLC, new furniture and lay-out
Comments (9)The first thing I notice is the almost total lack of color in your bedroom. It also lacks curtains, and there is very little softness, and a lot of dark and angular furniture. In the inspiration room that Beverly shows there is a definite and very cohesive color scheme, and much more softness to the bedding, and some strong and definite pattern. You might consider buying an area rug you love and taking color and pattern inspirations from that. The art in your room is too small and timid, and I would look for much larger and more colorful art to bring life to this room. A large easy chair in front of the window in a beautiful color and some decorative pillows could also become part of your color scheme. A very spare and modern aesthetic may not give you the warm and cozy vibe you say you're looking for. It might be better to wait until you've bought the furniture you want before asking for advice since I gather everything in the room will be different. The orientation of the bed looks good to me in relation to everything else, including where the door is....See Moreawkward bedroom
Comments (3)She can have any background she wants for zoom background it does not need to be part of the real room. Can you post pics of the actual room since your drawing shows no meaurements we can only guess as to what will work. The size of the chair fior sure or maybe she can relax in your space after work . You need to post a plan to scale or it is completely useless If she is just there for a short time can she not eliminate the chest then that would free up some space...See MoreAwkward 80s bedroom
Comments (54)In case anyone was curious what happened to the awkward 80s bedroom, I just finished it up recently. I'm no interior decorator, but I love it 100% more than before. What I did: Put up wallpaper, easily the most expensive change but totally worth it. It's a vinyl peel and stick with grasscloth texture which I love for its coziness. Three walls are lavender, one is green. Hung these curtains. They block nearly all of the light when the blinds are shut, making it way more restful. Found out this dresser and nightstand set is worth around 3k. 0_0 I sanded the pulls, they are a shiny aluminum under that bad paint. I also touched up all scratches on woodwork so the doors and trim look practically new. Installed mod-looking ceiling light (thanks hubby) and nifty adjustable wall lamp. Added comfy rug, recliner, shelves, mirror, plants and art. All of it was a terrific deal and I'm pleased as punch. It's a room I actually enjoy being in now. Thank you so much for all of your input!...See Moreawkward bedroom layout
Comments (10)I would look at Ikea storage systems. Great price and the furniture is good. I recommend either white or grey to work with the current furniture (if keeping) or if you are keeping the bed. The Hauga or the Hemnes would work well with the more traditional furniture you have. However, I would also look at what functionality you want, as any of them would work. With the Besta system, you have a lot more color choices, but there is an upcharge for those colors. They have a really nice light colored Walnut that would look great with the cherry. The Billy system has a lot of bookcases, but not a lot of other choices. Since he doesn't care much and he is 16 (I get it, I had 2 teenage boys), I would get what is best economically for you and could be repurposed for future use in this room or another room in the home. While there seem to be a lot of choices, you can quickly narrow it down, based upon price, color and the items you want. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/storage-organization-st001/?cid=a1:ps%257Ca2:se%257Ca3:US_ActivateConsumerLed_Behavioural_0AO_0en_Search_Brand_HFBMUL_0EM_IKE-IKE-067_IKEA_FY23_Google_CPSA_AOH_Text_Br_Exact%257Ca4:ikea%20closet%20storage%257Ca5:e%257Ca6:google%257Ca7:cq%257Cid:IKEA%2520Branded%2520GM%257Ccc:915...See Morenjmomma
