If an inside-mount doesn't work, it doesn't work. Outside mount will probably work better, and I would opt for roman fabric shades, not cellular or blinds.

@Sabrina Alfin Interiors: I currently have outside mounted pleated cellular shades and, although they are less than 2 years old, the pull cords have broken off on every one of them (from Select Blinds, who have been good about replacing them but it is still a pain to have to go through that every few months). So I am looking to replace them and would prefer to have inside mount. I have not considered roman fabric shades. Tell me why you like them?

@felizlady: I have not looked at mini blinds. You think mini because they are narrower and might mount better inside the limited space I have?

@Robin, I find blinds to be a bit too hard-edged looking. Fabric roman shades will soften the look of the room, give you privacy when you want it, and bring some color/pattern into the space. Before you do anything, have a consultation with a window treatment installer to see if you can do inside mount shades/blinds. Doesn't sound like it but it would be worth investigating.

@Sabrina Alfin Interiors: You bring up good points. I do think my bedroom windows need professional help - heck the whole bedroom needs a make-over. Maybe I should get an interior designer?

It's the only room in the house we haven't touched since we bought the house 2 years ago. In this photo, you can see the broken blind (this one in particular has been replaced 3 times already).

Don’t be afraid of an outside mount, especially with romans. Hard coverings can have a wood valance with a return to cover the headrail, for a less expensive option. This will give a finished look similar to an inside mount.

Some windows just aren't made for inside mounted coverings. You may not prefer outside mount but if you want shades or blinds that is your option. Or do curtains.

s others have said, inside mount is not possible, maybe the Fenstermann product might work, check them out. Out side mount probably the only why you can go.
