Need Help ID - Variegated Jade "Gollum"?
Comments (27)Just couldn't resist posting more.. Saw these in a nursery near my place. I'm assuming these are "skinny" finger jades, since there are more narrower on the tip. I had to try so hard to hold myself back from buying more, since I already have one at home. I should nurture it well before investing in more.. I had to go through the judgement of my partner, saying that, I need to control my obsession. lol...See MoreIs my baby jade gollum having root rot?? Please help!!
Comments (7)I find jade roots to be generally fibrous and brownish too. Here's a good article, despite it's boring appearance: http://www.botgard.ucla.edu/html/botanytextbooks/generalbotany/typesofroots/...See Morehelp - dying Gollum Jade, any advice?
Comments (2)Poor dead baby! Search this forum for soil threads, gritty mix, pumice, perlite etc. When you get a new one remove all, yes all, the soil it comes in, put it in your new soild recipe you'll make from learning on her what to put in it. It's not hard, just read the threads and pick either pumice, perlite or some other well draining ingredient that's easy to get in your locality. Don't water it for at least a week after you repot it, then water well, but rarely. Read a little about watering, and how to give it good light and you'll be fabulously successful next time:-) Soil, light and water....See MoreHow to Save Gollum Jade
Comments (4)It shouldn't be hanging, stems are supposed to be sturdy, able to support much bigger plant. You need to eliminate the reason why it is hanging. Was it obstructed by something and is growing sideways? (that would be most simple reason - and not really a problem). Was it watered too much? Was it in low light? (possibly, since it is quite light green). If my plant, I would take it out of pot. Clean all original soil off the roots and inspect them. Cut off all damaged roots. Prepare new mix (as above). Wash existing pot and reuse. If you want different pot it is ok, but it needs to have drainage hole(s). Pot into new mix and clean pot. Put in well lit spot and move into more and more light gradually (every few days works well). It should end up in good sunlight - it would do very well outside if you have access to it, during warm months. Ask should you have any further questions......See MoreNick F.
