Put dishwashing soap in water dispenser
Comments (2)Not an expert, but this is what I would try: Use one of those turkey injectors, oversized hypodermic needle, to suck as much of the DW liquid out as you can. Then fill with vinegar and use the injector to remove; repeat several times....See MoreWhat Soap in a Soap Dispenser?
Comments (13)Our kitchen isn't done yet, but we're putting hand soap in the dispensers at both the prep & main sink. I considered putting the dish soap in the dispenser, but I like to be able to squirt my dish soap at different places as needed. If it's in the dispenser the only place to put it is either in the sink where it "falls" or on the edge of pans/dishes as far in as the spout sticks out (I hope this made sense!) As to using dish soap for both...I find that even Palmolive is too harsh for regular hand washing...maybe if you only did it once or twice a day, but I wash my hands many more times a day. IMO, the "hand soap" label on the Palmolive (yes, we use that brand) refers to "hand dish washing" as opposed to "machine dish washing"...despite "Madge"! ("you're soaking in it!")...See MoreIn Sink soap DIspenser - Hand or Dish soap?
Comments (25)I understand the concerns about using dish soap if it tends to dry your hands. That hasn't been a probelm for me, but I do have a child with OCD who tends to wash more than necessary, so for a while I switched from the antibacterial dish soap to a dish soap that was not antibacterial. It was gentler on the hands, and kept my child's hands from cracking (and sometimes bleeding) as they had with the antibacterial soap. Since then, I've diverted my child from constant hand washing to using hand sanitizer in between a normal amount of hand washing, which has solved the problem. Now I can use whatever kind of dish soap I want. But if it doesn't bother your hands, dish soap is a perfectly good hand soap. (My grandmother even used dish soap for shampoo, which I do occasionally for a super cleansing of all hair products from my hair, with no discernible harm.)...See MoreDishwasher soap for Miele
Comments (19)Soft water and a hot water hook up will raise the likelihood of etching. If you have and use a china/crystal setting in the dw then i suggest the cost to have the plumber redo it. i had to do that with my Optima. If there is no china/crystal setting then it doesn't matter -- but that setting is the one reason I bought the DW. It works very well for my wine glasses and the vintage stemware. You can find out how hot the water is by running it for a while and sticking an instant read thermometer in the stream. Mine is about 125F f.ex. But that's above the 110-115 range for china/crystal. The machine has a heater so I think it's easier to have the cold water heated to the right temperature for that cycle. I recently tried the Ecover Zero tabs. Someone sent me a few. Very nice result on the few I tried. Have just bought a box but don't have long term use comment as yet. Yes, cutting the Method tabs is a bore. I usually do it when I open the bag. But I have found the results to be worth the work. And inexpensive. Perhaps you will have no etching. i hope not. Cutting back on soap will help....See Morewoodrose
