Emerald Pearl granite and white cabinets
Comments (4)I just put emerald pearl in my kitchen, kept the same white cabinets. I absolutely love the granite. Looked at different green granites for a year and thought I'd go with verde peacock or verde butterfly until I saw emerald pearl. I really like the "bling" in it....See MoreWhat to do with my hole in the wall (cabinet, shelves, etc.)?
Comments (10)Thanks for the suggestions all! I've already got a hall closet down the hall that holds just basically my portable ac unit since I haven't room for that elsewhere and don't really need a 'coat closet'. But, thats one thing I had not thought of and will keep it in mind if I don't do anything else with it. I don't know that I necessarily want to keep media there. I am slowly converting to everything being on a media server, including all these cds. Although I haven't played them in years, I can't bring myself to part with them either. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but there is just something about having a physical copy of music. They may end up going in the garage once I get my shelf project completed there. Thats why I'm kind of stuck with what to do with it ...and the closet idea is growing on me....See MoreElectrolux ICON single wall oven
Comments (1)We have had an Electrolux Icon for about 2.5 years (double oven). Came with 8 (!) of these sliding shelves. Never had this problem. My guess would be that your oven was not installed level - that the front is higher than the back, so gravity is pulling the shelves into the oven. If you have a level (the tool) you can check it. Fixing it is another matter. The difference front to back might only be as small as a quarter inch. Raising the back of your oven a quarter inch is no easy task....See MoreOpen Shelving in kitchen
Comments (11)Is your house so dusty because of construction projects? I was totally dead-set against the idea of open shelves due to potential dust and grime until we decided to add some as a temporary test to see how well they work. The reason why we did it is that the wall cabinets crowded a window and I wanted to see if it looked better without them but we still needed some food storage. We put up shelves only about 5" deep, just the right size for mason jars with various foods. I LOVE them. Once every few weeks I do a quick wipe along the inch or so in front of the jars to remove dust so that isn't a big deal. The food in the jars are used often enough where the jars themselves haven't gotten dusty or grimy. I like a clean house but dislike cleaning so, if I found them more work, I wouldn't plan on keeping them. I now think that open shelves are fine in most kitchens with one major caveat: the items stored on them should be items used regularly or you will have to continually clean the items on them before using them. But if your house is unusually dusty on a regular basis, maybe they wouldn't work for you at all?...See MoreSammie J
