Color of master bath cabinets and furniture in master bedroom
Comments (5)IMO, the cabs and furniture need to coordinate, but not necessarily match. For example, we have white perimeter cabinets in the kitchen with merlot colored hood & island. Kitchen is open to family room with 2 built-ins in a slightly off white color. Cubbies are just around the corner from kitchen and can be seen through the doorway--they are also slightly off white. There is enough distance between the whites that you don't notice they don't match--they just coordinate. Our master bedroom furniture has a mahogany finish with antiqued gold pulls, the master bath has espresso vanities with antique pewter pulls and you can see from one room into the other. Again, they are just far enough apart that you really don't notice the difference & they coordinate. Stained furniture can be coordinated with painted vanities/cabinets & vice versa. Unless you're planning something totally outlandish, I think you'll be just fine. Hope this helps!...See MoreFurniture color and rearranging closets in master bedroom
Comments (20)Love the bed. Is that from Crate and Barrel? (If so, I was eyeing that for years before my significant other voted for wood instead of upholstered.) I think you could go either dark stained furniture for some contrast or you could go with something light to keep the overall color scheme very neutral and light. It really depends on what you want the overall room to look like. I personally love dramatic dark wood with lighter paint and upholstery, but what have now also looks very neutral and soothing. I am always for additional storage in a master bedroom. If I had a seating area to eliminate to expand my closet, I would. I would not eliminate storage or lose a window in order to have a seating area. Your proposed layout seems to take up quite a bit of floor space. Will there even be enough space to walk past the bed to access the proposed sitting area and closet door?...See MoreMaster bedroom furniture placement...need advice quick!
Comments (9)I think your furniture placement will be all right, ncamy. I suggest a few things: 1. get slightly smaller club chairs than the current "overstuffed" size. (I've always wondered who that furniture is for, as you can only actually sit in the space provided and the arms and back don't add to one's comfort!) 2. Get chairs that swivel, so you can move them to and fro according to the light in the room, and 3. put one ottoman between the two chairs. You can face each other and use the single ottoman and still watch the screen, or you can put a tray on the ottoman and use it as a side table for the two chairs....See MoreNeed Help with Master Bedroom Bathroom/Bedroom Layout - 1970s house
Comments (5)I like my first idea best as far as use of space. I know people say not to put toilets on an outside wall. We had one in our last house in Iowa, but we had 2X6 construction. I don't know how high your window is, but I'm guessing the toilet would fit under there. The shower would be 5 feet long or shorter if you want a wider space to get to the toilet. (kind of tight the way I have drawn). You could do a 5 and half foot long shower and do an angled door at the left end to allow room between the shower and toilet. The vanity would be about 7 feet long, unless you do a 60 inch vanity with a linen cabinet at the door. I would reverse entry door swing if you do that.. The second top right could work and you would still have a small closet. The bottom left plan would require waterproofing your front window. Hopefully someone will give you other ideas. The bottom right plan is bigger, but no closet. Each square equals 1 foot....See MoreKirsty Prince
