Ralph Lauren paint finishes
Comments (3)Hello Myoneandonly! (such a charming "handle!) We seem to sell a good little bit of the RL Metallics where I work (also sell a BUNCH of RL wallpaint too!). The RL metallic is a "subtle" look for a metallic. The Modern-Masters brand is more shimmery. Do you know if the powder-room you saw had the RL in it?! RL metallic is kinda "borderline" for bathroom use, i.e. not much sheen to resist moisture. DON'T use it in a main bath...UNLESS you apply 2 coats of a Dead-flat-varnish. We have this product too...unfortuneately it's $55/gal. I've found out that a good quality latex varnish that's FLAT isn't cheap! >>> MAKE SURE you get the RL "stringy" roller for your metallic though! >>> With a traditional roller, the metallic just pools too much. The stringy roller mottles the edge. Do the light top-to-bottom "sweeps" of a section too...to even out any ridging!! >>> Start with a primer! If a deep metallic, use a gray primer. Faron...See MoreQuestion About Painting Over Ralph Lauren Suede
Comments (4)I have RL Suede in a couple rooms. I had to call their CS department once about a different question, so I tossed in one about repainting someday. CS rep told me just prime and paint with standard latex. I was going to try that out on a scrap piece of drywall but never did. When 'someday' comes, I'll probably sand it smooth first. (Much as I've enjoyed the suede paint, I dread that job!)...See MoreCould you live like this Ralph Lauren executive?
Comments (56)She can't be all bad. She has two copies of "I Married Adventure" by Osa Johnson at the top of the blue bookcase. :) And I actually bought the book to read (two or three times) and not as a decoration. http://vintagegirl1.blogspot.com/2010/06/i-married-adventure.html I'm sure her collection grew as time went by and doubt if she even "sees" it anymore. None of her "junk" means anything to me so it is just junk but I imagine she can tell you a story about most everything. I want to go to Roundtop, TX (a huge antique and junk fair like Brimfield) in October but I don't "need" anything and know I will find stuff I just have to have and then my house will look like hers so I will probably have to skip it again....See MoreRalph Lauren Auction Chairs Update - Opinions?
Comments (15)Thank you cawaps, olychick, raphaellathespanishwaterdog, nosoccermom, jmarino19, and Christy Reves I appreciate the help! the auction is tomorrow. :) The couch is a dark brown, but you would not mistake it for black. the black in the chairs is black, but it is kind of faded (not really faded, but mottled, I don't know what to call it, it is on purpose in the fabric) It does have a brown in the pattern for sure. I did not notice the pattern, It is funny what bugs people. I can be nuts about colors matching a certain way, but mismatched pattern, a picture not quite center or crooked, doesn't phase me! I wonder if that warrants not paying as much. I am surprised I would have thought ralph lauren would have been a better brand. I was able to sit in them. they are BIG chairs, but comfortable. I usually like solid carpets. that red carpet is in the kids play room and is wall to wall. it is a different room from where the chairs will go. Too funny jmarino - was the chair that you were looking at from Jenacks? Here is the picture from the auction site again - I cant tell if you could flip or switch the cushions. Here are a couple of rugs that might be too similar in pattern? but I think they "go" and I do really like one of them......See Moresuzyq53
