So has anyone seen pictures of alternatives besides a entire row of an accent tile? We have a 15 foot run that is very horizontal in nature, and I'm not that fond of having yet another horizontal line. But I REALLY would like an accent of some sort besides what is going over the stovetop in the middle. I was at the tile store today, and 1 of the employees suggested randomly dropping a skinny row of mosiac between the subway tiles. We were looking at a noce 3x6, plus a polished scabos (matches granite well, and I don't like glass) mosiac. Interjecting the mosiac seems to really go against the spirit of doing a subway, but it could give an accent. So is this mission impossible, and I should look at a more conventional tile pattern? Any other ideas?

The project manager said there was miscommunication with the worker who applied it. He used the same cloth to wipe the whole time he was sealing the three rooms. The sealer ended up over the entire surface. They used sulfamic acid in it which removed the shine but it's still greasy and slippery. They are coming on Monday to use Klean Strip KS3 as recommended by Custom Building Products. I suspect that the sulfamic acid didn't really remove much of anything and that the reduction in shine is because the sulfamic acid crystals are now suspended in the sealer. It absolutely has to get removed completely from the surface of the tiles as I have a crawling 9 month old. We are going to be isolated to those three rooms for phase 2 of our renovation. I told the project manager that it needs to be cleaned up so that he (project manager) would feel comfortable licking it.

A copper soaking tub might interest you. Ceramic isn't nearly as durable as porcelain. I'd keep looking to find both wall and floor tile that is all porcelain for such a heavily-used area as a bathroom. You don't need contrast with your floor in such a small space. Keep it all the same pattern. We just redid our master bath with Happy Floors porcelain tile in a marble-look pattern and are thrilled with it. You can't just move plumbing like that. The whole shower drain through your foundation would need to be re-routed not to mention that wall being gutted to the studs and likely other foundation work for tubing additions. You might as well build on a new bathroom for what that hassle and expense would cost you.

Thanks all. Korenlynn -- agree with you on the big tile and have narrowed it down to 3x6 glass tiles (haven't been able to find a porcelain that I like / feels modern enough). But I just had some new 3x6 samples come in that add a fun color pop! Has anyone had iridescent subway tile put in for their pool waterline (left most in this picture)? Too much or a fun sparkle /reflection in the sun?
