Need ideas for updating an old office building
These offices were built in the 70s and have the old wood panel walls. The manager offices are unpainted wood. The rest of the offices are painted white walls with blue carpet. Im looking for a flooring recommendation and some ideas on what to do with the manager offices. was considering painting them but now I'm almost thinking to keep the wood look and put some nice porcelain tile floors to complement the wood walls...any suggestions?

What a great idea to eliminate the middle post of the pergola. Perhaps a more substantial corner post would work better. Comments (5)The house is great just as it is. As others have said, what it needs is a good landscape plan. Add a curved planting area from the corner of the walkway to the end of the house. And plant a specimen tree further out into the yard. You'll be adding value to your home as well as making it look more interesting and welcoming. Comments (2)I would not put up an awning, it's dark enough. if you need shade, a colorful sun sail? or pergola slats? is that a parking spot right outside the door? I would build out that whole area and make a courtyard. with built in seating and planters, plant some evergreens, soften the appearance. 5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoi'd address those ceilings before anything else. whatever you do will be ruined by the look of those. at the very least bring in new ceiling panels and look into switching to recessed lighting. (easier on your eyes too)
are you keeping that furniture as well?
if you want a porcelain tile, look into something in the 24x24 range with minimal grout lines. This is a limestone look
or you could do large slate tiles and run natural wood or the longer, wood-look porcelain tiles for a cool design.
you could also do some cool terrazzo tiles and go retro like Don Draper!
Even these ceiling tiles are better than what you have currently!

Those tiles I showed you came from Tilebar.com. look under the Porcelain floors tiles.
those two are Akim and the Limestone porcelain from tilebar
for the ceiling, just make it easy on you and do drywall and recessed lighting. save the money for the good stuff!
I'd look into getting a nice mcm console, maybe removing 3 walls of the wood paneling (leaving one behind your desk) putting up drywall and painting it a nice color.
or, remove the wood, veneer one wall in a type of brick, put your console against that.
I like black and white with wood, throw in a cobalt blue sofa or chairs, an acrylic desk (makes the room look larger) ,,,,
maybe do the black/white terrazzo floor tiles.
or, cement tiles in the terrazzo,,,or any of the other patterns you like

you could also leave them open for an industrial type of look.here's the polished slab.
just depends the look you want.
but if you remove the ceiling tiles and see you already have the framing in place, shouldn't be that difficult to do drywall

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoyes, they're prob hung from wires. you could do the industrial look, or like you said, frame out the ceiling w/beam to preferred height, run some joists and hang drywall, or just replace those ceiling tiles w/tiles from this decade and install recessed lighting.
actually these tiles look pretty good
