It sounds like you're wanting to add trees in an "L"-shaped arrangement adjacent to road and property line. Is that correct? I prefer more organization and order, but if the purpose is mainly privacy and you like the mixed, natural woods look, it doesn't much matter the particular species as long as the ultimate size is right. Along the property line where there are existing trees, you'll need to give the new ones light so don't plant them right under existing tree canopies or trim those back some before planting the new trees, or they won't be happy. Weeping Callistemon or weeping yaupon holly might be a good choice for the weeping tree. Crape myrtles would also be some that you can fit within your height restriction. Where you can use taller trees, you might consider pink or yellow Tabebeuia or Bauhinia. Loquat, Vitex and Duranta might be considerations. Check suitability of these before buying any. You didn't mention your location.

Oh that sucks!! I'm been considering starting another container of my saved seed from my Cherry Profusion, because the first round never came up. That was a first since I started growing these in 2004! I think I will do that this afternoon :D As for losing them after planting I haven't ever had high winds do them in (when doesn't the wind blow here?), but this year something has nibbled a few of the other Zinnias I've put out...not all the way to the ground, but on the leaf margins. Most of them are still just barely out of the 1st leaf stage and have been stuck like that for a month! If they don't have a growth burst with the coming heat starting tomorrow I'm afraid they will get completely ate up.... or swallowed up by the surrounding plants :(

Sorry but sulfur does NOT convert to gypsum!! These are two separate chemical compounds (well, sulfur not exactly a compound but the same intent.) If you are using sulfur to reduce soil pH, that's one thing but it needs to be applied well in advance of planting to be effective. My understanding of the avoidance of using sulfur sprays on 'cots is due to phytotoxicity. This would not be a concern with a soil application but I would avoid planting immediately after amending the planing hole with sulfur. Many chemical elements can cause issues if they come into direct contact with plant roots.

you live in METRO detroit ... by definition .. its suburban ... if you can see more than one neighbor.. its suburban ... if your roads are paved... etc .... just because you have a couple horses.. does NOT make you rural ... lol ... can we at least agree.. your are not urban ... in the city ... anyway ... the easiest way to avoid grief.. with apricot.. is to avoid them ... in SE MI ... i presume you will agree we live in SE MI???? i highly recommend you get that refund.. and be done with them ... i have banged my head on the barn called apricot ... for decades.... i highly recommend you avoid said banging ... it gets old fast ... do as i say.. not as i did .. imo ... always a pleasure.... ken ps: anywhere around metro detroit. that is a claimed z6 .. is.. in my book.. living the effect of being in the suburban weather effect ... and the only problem with that claimed z6 ... is that every couple years.. they get socked with the reality.. that they are really z5 .... like everything else for hundreds of miles... imo.. the only true z6 in MI .. is the west coast fruit belt .. but i digress ...
