I'm in the process of building a new home. I need to make decision on what color my stairs banister, and newel post will be. My floors are bamboo in rustic clove. I don't have a pic of the floors installed in this area but I do of the dining room which is attached. My contractors laid the boxes back over the flooring so they would not get scratched. I am attaching a pic to show where the banister and posts will be installed. I was thinking of doing white risers, I already purchased the balusters, which are black rod iron (not the shiny black looks more rustic) and they will alternate between 1 and 2 knuckle. Should I stain the newel posts, rail, and stair treads all the same? I like the look of ebony stain but would this look bad if the stain doesn't match my hardwood? Or do I need to try and match my floor to the stain?none of the stains I picked out match. They don't but up against each other since my steps are going down rather than up.
