new entry way needs some windows
Comments (8)Aw, thanks awm03, yes, we designed it around the door (vintage, picked it up at a garage sale for $5) and the transom, which came from an auction. A fabulous company in NNY, Vintage Doors, took our drawings, the door and transom, and fabricated the sidelights and porch panels. There are single pane windows in for the winter and screened panels for the summer. fallingwaters, nope, we're not on Paradox Lake, but I do know it well (used to drive from BTV to Albany, NY all the time), it's a beautiful area. Here's that close up, exterior: Interior (kinda dark, sorry): sandyponder...See MoreOld family room/ new entry way ideas
Comments (14)You want it to be cozy and inviting but what do you want/need the space to do? Start there before you buy anything. Do you need office space? Do you have or need a place to hang guest coats? Would you use it as sitting/entertaining space or is your lifestyle such that it would only collect dust while you use the space more connected with the kitchen? I could see it as a lovely reading retreat for adults or kids or adults reading to kids with bookshelves and comfortable chairs - but that fits my life....See MoreNeed help with a small entry way. Comments (7)I don't mind the table and mirror and can't really think of anything besides art that would fit on that wall. Can't see the table details well but could it be painted? How about red to match your lovely door? What would say "fresh and cozy" to you for that space? Have you thought of a new light fixture? A runner and a larger rug in the entrance could look good. I don't find the clock visible from the door to be welcoming so I'd be tempted to remove it....See MoreHelp picking out new pendant lights in entrance way- what style?
Comments (24)Are we talking about the "entry" right at the front door? Or the space up on the step up area toward the stairs. Basically, though, it's the base of the table that will somewhat define the style. The more rustic, it becomes more "Mountain lodge" and the more refined it can go modern, contemporary or even more "transitional". They are also pretty expensive so before you invest money there, figure out how much you want to or can spend now, and then start selecting things you like and create an "Ideabook" here on Houzz. That will help you "define" which style direction you like. You can "like" a number of styles, but ultimately one will become more apparent than others....See MoreMary C
