We have this exact light in our foyer. Out of the box it seems huge. Our foyer dimensions are 11 feet 3 inches in length by 6 feet 8 inches wide, however, the foyer is open on 2 sides to other rooms. The foyer ceiling is vaulted with the peak at 17 feet. We love this large light as it is a good size for the space and can be seen outside the large transom over the 8 foot entry door. However, for your ceiling height you might consider the next smaller size. Good luck in your selection. bgj

I also feel that the wood door would be a nice contrast for you. We also have white interior doors, with a foyer closet door very close to our entry door. The interior of our entry door is white, and the exterior is barn red. But, all that white just blends together in the foyer and isn't very interesting. I can certainly see where a stained wood door would add visual interest.

Well...my $0.02 USD worth is: --Having a design where a house unfolds as one progresses through the public spaces is always a good concept...the trick is to actually have it work. You house "unfolds" as one turns to the right and moves toward the living room...after entering the front door and seeing the dreaded closet door. --Looking from the entry, through a corridor, and seeing the exterior beyond is not a bad thing at all, IMO. But your visitors won't typically move that way. Won't they typically turn right from the entry and move towards the living room? And even if they move straight ahead, towards the kitchen area, there's an intervening space between the entry and the kitchen which can easily be designed with lower ceiling as another "unfolding" space. Simple. --Now for the entry closet: "...we have handled this same condition in a few of our custom homes in similar fashion and has proven very successful each time . . . " A picture is worth a thousand words, and an actual site visit to such an existing custom home is worth several thousand words. Ask for about 5,000 to 10,000 words of visual explanation. All of the doors pictured are simply (expensive) doors. They are just doors! I, for one, would never want, nor design, a house with an entry door which directly faced a closet door. Of. Any. Kind. There are so many more interesting and imaginative things for an intial impression of a custom house, IMO. For example: An entry featuring art and natural light at the end of the tunnel: Or, for something completely different, a floor to ceiling collection of books: ...Or an imaginative collection of anything which represents the Worthy family and some of the things they hold dear... Almost anything one can think of, imaginatively arranged, will be immeasurably better than a closet door. Any. Closet. Door.

Thanks Mark, this is what I’ve been doing after receiving each iteration (see sketches I included above) because without it I have a hard time spotting problem areas Such as B and H and the area marked G where the corner of the stairs are. The early hand drawn sketches did have more of that in them. I don’t know why we have moved away from the hand drawn ones except I guess to be paid as part of the contract. I tried to get us to move back to the hand drawn ones to speed things up as I figured it would make changes easier, but .... Your hand drawn kitchen, dining, living looks like it is something that could work well for us and the kitchen is close except we would not have a nook and want a separate clean-up area from the prep area. Do you mind telling me what the dimensions are as it would help me to know the size that is needed. We have a 9ft long dining table we need to fit.
