What kind of floor with White Glossy Subway Tiled shower/bath?
Comments (6)My wall tiles are glossy white and subway-patterned but square; I used this limestone-look large format tile (in an offset/brick/running bond pattern) by American Olean, and I'm very happy with it. (And I thought I didn't like "faux" stone tiles, previously!) Other elements in the room include a natural stone vanity top (quartzite, like marble, in a rich grey/white with warm undertones). This floor looks great, feels really nice underfoot (especially with the radiant floor heat, mmmmm!) and hides dirt/hairs REALLY well ;) I linked the tile below, but mine isn't the 12x12 shown, it's 12" x 18" Here is a link that might be useful: American Olean's Costa Rei floor tile in...See MoreTub/Shower or walk-in shower in guest bath?
Comments (7)Can you put in a large enough shower so that if you sold later a new owner could easily put a tub/shower combo in that same spot? I think if the opening were framed the right size, you could go with the shower now (which I think is the better choice in your particular situation) and then when it came time to sell, people could be told that a tub would fit in that same spot if they wanted to change it out. They would probably need to change the drain location, etc., but this could keep them from having to mess with framing. As a buyer, I would prefer the tub, but I am part of the smaller percentage that takes a bath 90% of the time and only showers occasionally. In our current house, we have a large garden tub, shower, and tub/shower combo. Normally I use the tub/shower combo to have the smaller tub so that it doesn't take as long to fill up the tub and I don't waste as much water....See MoreGuest Bath - Shower Door or Curtain?
Comments (13)I should add that as a guest, I find it a bit tiresome to be confronted with a glass shower and the knowledge that I'm going to have to squeegee once I'm done. I think a curtain is kinder to guests in addition to being cheaper. ETA @cpartist, I've seen plenty of shower curtains in multi-million dollar homes. As a musician I get to see many guest baths in places I would normally never be invited as a guest. (They send me to a guest bath since the powder room is reserved for the real guests at the event.)...See MoreAdvice on color scheme in Almond bath tile guest bathroom
Comments (11)Boy, thanks so much both of you for the thoughts and advice! I really do appreciate it. To answer a few questions .. I am trying to do it on a budget but NOT a $500 DIY budget. I think I’d be happy in the 2-3k range. I’m looking to sell in the next couple of years so I don’t want to spend tons (or as much as I would if I were staying) yet want it to look updated . I think double sinks is preferable as it’s really a kids bathroom and most families in this size house have more then one kid. Of course my 17 year old daughter gets it all as my 16 year old son has always been pushed out to our master bathroom lol. It’s not that bad as he spends about 2 minutes in the bathroom. I’d love to make the tub and tile white but figured that’s 1k at least eating into the budget so was trying to see if there was a way to make it look decent . The vinyl tile or to go with it I decided on price point and the fact that luxury vinyl really to me is looking pretty good and not so fake anymore but would love real tile. To rip out old and put new though even though it’s not a big space is going to be more $ then vinyl. I personally love the stencil idea and looked at tons of videos but realistically I don’t have the time myself to do it. That’s a little more on the project....See Morechiflipper
