I think the single mirrors definitely are more decorative and you then have the option to add an additional element in way of the frame you chose. You may also have room to add a single sconce between the mirrors for an added level of light or some other decorative item. Maybe have space for a counter garage. I can't help you off hand on the mirror sizes. Mine are packed in the garage of the other house. To get an idea go to the gallery of the decorating forum and look up the bathroom eye candy thread and there are literally hundreds of photo's. You should be able to get some ideas from there by looking at idividual mirrors and how their size relates to the vanity/bowl size. You can also google vanities with matching mirrors and that will give you specific sizes. Good luck.

Using the mirror over the mantel is not where I'm headed - that picture is about 15 years old! A friend on another board came up with a suggestion at the same time I was thinking of it myself. See the white mirror above? Notice how the bottom piece of trim extends out on 3 sides - ALMOST LIKE A SHELF !! That's what my piece needs - I think - and it should be pretty easy to add. Wha'd'ya think? At this point I'm leaning towards cleaning it up and not painting it - there is one other small piece that I'd like to use in the room with the similar wood tones so I think they'll relate well. syllabus that's a really interesting idea - I'm going to have to flip a photo to get a visual. The bookcase you're seeing in the reflection is black - must be the sun glare looking blue. But that's one of the pieces up for repainting so it may not stay black.

We currently have a 60" vanity with overhead lights. Our bathroom is 5' x 10', and I read that I need 300 watts of light for that size bathroom. I'm sold on sconces for our remodel because of our aging eyesight. We'll have two sconces with one sink. I've looked at all kinds of mirror configurations, but what makes the most sense is to set the sconces into a large mirror so that the light is bounced around the room. Did you say in another post that your ceiling is only 7 1/2' tall? I'm not sure a chandelier would look so good. I think they're better in powder rooms and in spacious bathrooms. Instead, I would use an exhaust fan/light combination to put light and ventilation over the toilet and shower area. I wouldn't count on the vanity lights, door, and a decorative chandy to supply enough light for the other side of the room. You need light for cleaning the toilet and shower and if anyone reads while on the can.
