Guest Bedroom Help
Comments (7)The current arrangement does not appear to be the ideal solution. It looks like the bed and nightstand were just shoved aside to clean under the bed. If you are going to keep the bed angled, getting a round nightstand would be better than a square one. Since this is a guest, room one of the wide dressers could be eliminated and the bed placed on the big wall where the dresser now sits. I do realize that guest room dressers are often used for out of season storage so maybe you prefer to have two dressers and need them. In that case I would put drapes on the windows and put the bed in front of the window. The drapes would form a nice backdrop when closed and since the headboard is low the light and view would not be hidden when they are opened. This can look very nice. In fact some people even put up drapes behind the bed to give the illusion of a window where none exists. With a new furniture arrangement, I would put the lamp from the tall dresser on the nightstand and eliminate the two floor lamps by the bed. A lamp on a night stand is easier for someone to use while in bed and the floor lamps look a bit cluttery next to the bed. Put one of the floor lamps next to the chair and use the other one in another room. You have a very pretty room and I love your mix of furniture styles without going all "Shabby Chic" overload. I love your bold choice of wall color too....See MoreGuest bedroom help needed.
Comments (11)I have two yellows that are not screaming meemie that I love! One is SW Jersey Cream. (Posted in Gallery "Yellows" thread during painting/remodel process. To get to the Gallery just look at the options at top of page, right before posts start. You'll see Decorating, Gallery, Conversations. ) The other is an Ace color, Manor Cream. (I had the JC mixed by Ben Moore, but the Ace color I just used Ace paint.) Soothing, not jarring, calming. In a high light room the Jersey Cream might be too light for you, I used it in a lower light family room and it's perfect, it has mellowed to a buttery creamy golden. The Manor Cream I put in higher light bedrooms in a different house, and I can't get enough of that color when I'm there! (Sorry, no pics of that one) Despite the name, both are more yellow than cream for sure. In fact when searching yellows, I found a huge chunk of the agony is taken away if you shift your focus over to swatches of creams that have high yellow tint in them. "True" yellows (just like taupes/beiges) have the propensity to drive you crazy! And almost all were too jarring for my taste. Also, trailrunner has a yellow I had my eye on for ages but never used. After seeing it on her laundry room walls I regret not using it! Valspar (pretty sure it's Valspar line at Lowe's) Belgian Waffle. If you post and ask her for it, she'd probably oblige. She re-posted it for me once but the thread is gone (lost in one of the board software glitches we've had lately?)....See MoreUpstairs kids bedroom over master bedroom...big mistake?
Comments (13)When we build, there won't be any rooms above our Master Bedroom. At the moment, my almost 13-year-old son and 3-year-old's room is over our Master Bedroom. My 8- and 10-year old's room is above the living room. Their bathroom is between their two rooms. When sleeping in, I can hear every single movement that my 13-year-old and 3-year do. There was carpet in the room which helps with the noise, but I hate carpet and put in wood flooring. If he drops something, I hear it. When he goes to the bathroom, I hear it. When all 4 of them are in one room, I can hear them. Just as this, I can hear every movement in my other boys' room when in the living room. They are very rambunctious and like to jump around. Another problem I have is that the pipe from their toilet/tub goes down the wall which is located between our living and kitchen/dining room. When they flush the toilet or let out their bath water, the pipe rattles in that wall. I know every time they use the bathroom and so do my guests. Most times it is rather embarrassing....See Moreguest bedroom help!
Comments (37)Hi Theresa, thanks for the pillow info. I’m so confused because I’m not sure the exact size of the two off white Shams i have now. And if i add two euro pillows they won’t go with my exact bedding. Right now my sleeping pillows seem to be larger than the Shana that go with the duvet. It’s an old Calvin Klein art from 2008 when i was first married. Nice but organic cotton with a very subtle jacquard like floral print. I do love the look of the matalese bed skirt but not sure if i have too many textures going on. Wondering if i need to add more color now. I was these poufs in target and i thought tonout a couple at the foot of the bed for my kids to watch tv with their grandparents. Yes i can put the other night stand on the other side. I am feeling like all the wood furniture in the room is too heavy....See Moreuhleezah
