Does this pricing for a stair runner sound correct to you?
Comments (35)@clt3 I'm with you! I love numbers and have always enjoyed working with them...unless it was Trig! Boy did I have a hate on for Trig. Fast forward a few years after High School. There I was in an industry that needed to evaluate WAVE FORMS! Doh! Yah...it's amazing (tongue firmly in cheek) how much we *should know is being taught in....wait for it...SCHOOL! If only we could go back and smack our teenage-selves around a bit. Knock some sense into ourselves. That would have been SUPER helpful!...See MoreInstallation of stair runner or carpet treads
Comments (3)You don't need to remove the quarter round if you do a water fall installation that just folds down over the the nosing and then is attached at the back corner of the riser and tread. If you are talking about where the staircase transitions from an open riser and railing to where it is a closed riser and a wall, I would Not step the width in. I think the uniform appearance of the runner from the front is more important than exposure of the tread being equal on treads that vary in width. In my area custom binding that much carpet into individual stair treads would be expensive. My bound rugs, one of which has a shape other than rectangular, the binding was charged by the linear inch....See MoreHelp I hate the stair runner I installed
Comments (37)As you can see from the chaos that is my living room in the background my girls have been off of school for a few days. I couldn’t help myself and painted a test area the light gray I have in my kitchen (FB school house white). It changed which color tones in the runner were emphasized enough that I’m much less antagonistic about it. The hallway has needed painting since we had a pipe burst last year, so I think I’m going to go for it. I actually think I might love the color with the slate (a transitional neutral flooring material in my book). A lighter brighter gray would be pretty - but I already have this paint so here we are. I had ordered the dark stair rods, but have appreciated all of the advice regarding them so TBD. I would love to post more pictures of the stair/hallway areas (really most of my house because your replies are so stellar with insight and ideas) but need a full day of school to get the place looking respectable again😆 Thank you everyone for your time and help!! The encouragement and debate are invaluable....See MoreStair runner dilemma
Comments (15)Funny - I thought it looked awkward right away. The stairs bug me also though - the runner just makes it more noticeable. But I also don't think you should redo anything. As someone said, it would really require redoing the entire stairs to "correct" the issue - but it really isn't a big deal - even if I noticed it right away....See MoreRelated Professionals
