Dark cabinets with dark backsplash?
Comments (6)We are building a new house and I have dark oak cabinets. I had a different granite in mind, then switched to Diamond Arrow because mine seemed too dark, and DA had a lot more light elements in it. I really wanted some blue in my kitchen, and had chosen some gorgeous backsplash tiles from Euro Ceramic, the Peacock series. These tiles are long and thin, and remind me of glazed pottery. I chose the Blue Marine tiles, but the other colors would look great with Diamond Arrow as well. Your kitchen is looking beautiful....See Moreblack (or very dark) granite as a backsplash?
Comments (10)claybabe's backsplash is not a slab but it is black tile with a black countertop (dark with dark), so it could give you a great visual idea of what you're thinking about doing. Also, check out . It's a blue granite, so not super-dark, but it's certainly got presence! I have a slab backsplash but of white marble, and I LOVE it! Yes, it was more expensive than doing tile but the reason I love it is because I can see the marble. I chose this particular countertop marble for a reason: I think it's gorgeous and it makes my heart smile. If it were only on my counter I wouldn't be able to see it from other vistas, but with it as the backsplash, I see it when I'm in the breakfast nook, I see it from the family room, I see it every time I enter the kitchen. Here's a picture of my kitchen from a while ago (before it was finished), but it'll give you an idea. I guess maybe it depends on the material because I totally disagree with edlakin: I don't think our marble slab backsplash makes our kitchen seem modern -- I think the modern appliances and sink do that, but not the backsplash. But who's to say a touch of modern is a bad thing? Pas moi!...See MoreFlooring for kitchen with dark cherry cabinets and black granite
Comments (0)Hi all, I am putting new flooring in my condo for my kitchen/dining area/living room, which are all part of one big room, essentially. I'm currently leaning toward using wood-look tile (the flooring is being replaced because of a flood that started two units above mine, so the thought of flooring that won't be ruined if this happens again is particularly appealing). I'm having trouble figuring out what color flooring would work best with the design of the kitchen, which unfortunately isn't changing much because of the cost. The kitchen has dark cherry wood cabinets and black granite countertops, so I'm looking to try to lighten things up a bit. Any suggestions? I'm also repainting the walls, and would love paint color suggestions as well! Here's a picture of the kitchen. This picture is from before I bought the condo, so the counters are less cluttered and I don't have a rug in there. You can't tell from this picture, but the left side of the kitchen is open to the dining area. As part of this process, I am planning to take down the black granite backsplash and replace it with something lighter, but can't afford to do new counter tops or cabinets (and don't want to paint the cabinets I have). Here's a picture from the rest of the room (taken from the entryway, with the kitchen on my right). This is also from before I owned the place, but gives you an idea of what the room is like. I hate the dark crown molding and baseboards, so will be making those white. Here's a picture of part of the dining area and living room now. It's not a great picture, but will hopefully give you an idea of the current decor....See MoreClueless! help kitchen countertop + backsplash to match dark cabinets
Comments (27)Original Poster Update I've finally made a decision on cashmere carrara quartz countertop (MSI) and Masia Gris Claro tiles. I'm hesitant about the cashmere carrara because the photos I have seen vary so much and the sample is so small... If anyone has some real-life photos of the cashmere carrara countertop, I'd really love to see them. They are coming to do the templates in two days so I'd still have time to change my mind. Thanks!...See Moresmbest3
