Quartz counter tops
Comments (49)We've only had our Cambria quartz counter top for about 1 month and I LOVE it!! I did want more of a shine but find it is not very shiney at all : ( But is sounds like more prefer the less shinier type. Around here the popular ones are Oxford, Nottingham and Victoria from what the dealer told me. I like them too and thought that one of those would be my choice but ended up choosing the new Cranbrook Quarry series just because it went better with the cabinets. Preston and Brownhill were also very nice. I was able to take the small 4"x4" sample home for a few days to decide. I can barely see the seem and love how it cleans. Haven't put anything REALLY hot on it, like a slow cooker, and probably won't just because I'm scared to LOL. Here are some pics.......total cost $5700 (install & tax)...See MoreFormica Butterum granite counters - anyone have it?
Comments (24)writesblock - wow - I can't imagine butterum with chinese red walls! she sure was braver than I'd ever be! lol! boxerpups - thx for the pics. my eyes aren't focusing very well today but I'm gonna save those to my pic folder and then enlarge them to see better. sometimes my eyes clear up later in the day also. it doesn't seem to be obnoxious looking tho from what i can tell so far. southerstitcher - I got 2 of them at about 4 x 7? or so. maybe I should have them color copied? lol! I will look at their site again and see what other sizes I can get tho... sorry your dh doesn't want laminate. I'm gonna need a seam also - in the corner i'm sure. that does worry me a bit. more how it'll look than seepage. I'm thinking I'd almost rather they do a straight 'slab' one way and another one the other direction with the seam just a straight front to back seam rather than on the diagonal in the corner... i'm not sure how it runs. my main piece would be about 7 x 3 (3 at the widest at the corner turn) so maybe they can do that without a seam? then my stove is there and would create a natural 'break' in it. hope that makes sense... I haven't really decided on the edge yet. want it to be simple tho - so was thinking just a rounded one. I looked at silestone also but everytime I found one online I likes and went into the store, i didn't like it in real. last trip I stood there and focused on all they had and still couldn't find one that I liked and thought would look good with my cabinets. I like yellow nile but it was too ylw in real - they have a brown with some veiny things in it I like but that seemed so boring with my brown cabinets...then I could have gone with a cream with just little flecks in it - again I thought just too boring... I'm used to laminate also and figure it'll work fine for me. if in a few yrs I'm tired of it or I find a new silestone i really like I won't feel bad about changing it because of the lower cost....See Morequartz or granite countertop & best color for cherry cabinets w/b
Comments (24)NervousNancy... Our pendants and DR chandelier are Murray Feiss and I purchased them at EXPO Design Center (owned by HD). There are 2 finishes...ours are in Antique Pewter. There's also a Grecian Bronze (similar to ORB, I think). The DR chandelier isn't very big b/c our DR is small. They do have larger chandeliers, if you're interested in those as well. P1095AP - 1-Light Morningside F2050/5AP - 5-Light Morningside Our faucet is the Kohler Vinnata® Kitchen Sink Faucet (K-690) in Vibrant Brushed Nickel with the handle on the right. The handle location is adjustable: it can be on the left, right, or middle...it's up to you. The nice thing about being adjustable is that if you don't have enough room behind the faucet for the handle to work properly, you just mount it in the front. We bought it at FaucetDirect.com. There are 8 finishes and it comes in 2 sizes (main sink, the one we have, and prep version (K-691), which is a couple of inches smaller). We love our location as well! Actually, we're on a 3-acre lot w/a street on the other side of the berm in the back then a horse farm/farm under agricultural preservation. We do have neighbors...across the street from the front yard and on either side of us...you just can't see them from our back windows! Plus, we planted a double row of evergreens on one side to block the NW wind that also blocks our view of that house (to the right). Our neighbors on the other side planted a row of pear trees so we didn't feel we could plant evergreens there. But, they're farther away so it's not a big deal...plus we have nice neighbors! Looking at the pictures again, I just realized that those are the pics taken before I cleaned the granite! So, it still has the granite dust on them from the work they did when installing the sink side. (The other side is not done yet, the granite is just placed on the counters, not aligned or secured. We're waiting for a replacement for the cabinet they damaged when they began the install on that wall.) Good luck on your choices & welcome!...See MoreSilestone Desert Silver
Comments (4)Hey I just ordered the same thing from homedepot...I could have it all in by the end of this month...but I had to sched a later date for them to come measure so we could remove old cabinets and install new ones and waiting for our sink to arrive as well...homedepot has it for 10% off right now and if you purchase cabinets with counter you get a free sink..not sure what sinks but silestone is a brand in the sale. I just wish I could find more examples of desert silver used in kitchens....See MoreSean G
