Succulent found in a Connecticut Greenhouse
Comments (5)I'd say it's Peperomia Obtusiflia, like Purple said. I'm curious what you did to this plant, haha. Not to be an accessory to anything potentially evil, but It's commonly found in the indoor gardening sections of big box stores like Lowes, Home Depot, etc. It won't be outside, usually. ;-)...See MoreSmith College - Succulent greenhouse plants
Comments (10)Thanks Erica & Marguerite! The jades and the massive cactus barrel are my favorite plants of the school's collection. It's always hard to leave, just want to stare at them and be hypnotized by their age & beauty. Erica, from my memory, the trunk had to be at least as round as a soda can, perhaps a little more. Someday, I will ask how old it the jades are, and anything they can tell me about them. Marguerite, that is great news, will you share a pic of your silver dollar jade? I know I've seen them in the past in stores, and now that I want one I can't find one. I'm sure I'll stumble onto one someday. A couple more pics... can really see the good size double trunk here. Comments (40)Kevin, not sure if I understand - I was suggesting using same size of wood, just roll over not under. I used staples, so didn't have any space between the fasteners (screws)....you'll find lots of water and debris collecting in-between. Too bad I didn't take photos how I had it done, plastic was fastened on top of frame, not under (much easier to install). I had total of 17feet, covered with one piece of plastic that I could drop down in case of bad rainstorm and/or strong winds (open sides so it didn't inflate like a baloon)....See MoreDIY grow chamber - help with grow light please
Comments (0)Again, I have way more plants than I can fit in my house's windowsills. Last year I made a grow chamber using a cardboard box and CFL bulbs in the basement. Have some issues but the major issues are it is too small and the CFL bulb does not last long, burned out two already in last winter. This year I am building a 2' X 4.5'. Original I thought just go get the 4ft T5 or T5 HO (that's why the length is 4.5') but after reading some posts regarding grow lights I think LED might be a better choice? My main goal is to get the plants over the winter, at least not in survival mode. It is even better if they grow. My plants are mostly, Citrus, Philodendron, Jade trees and this or that tropical plants. I have been considering these light options, which one is the best or do you have better recommendations? for the LEDs, it the area the light covers the area of the light? Do I need two 2'X2' led panels to cover 2' X4' area? Thanks a lot... 1.
