Paint color/type for garage walls?
Comments (5)Most garages are painted white because it's what the builder used throughout the house. New home owners seldom think to paint the garage and by the time they think of it they don't want to move the stuff that is being stored there. My Sis painted her garage a beautiful medium green and I'm thinking of doing the same. I like patty's idea of using the same as the exterior, but since I have a brick home I think I have more options. BTW, if you're not happy with the yellow, there's no reason it has to match the flooring. There are sooo many colors to choose from!...See MoreBest wall paint color for this picture?
Comments (5)Hi - they certainly have the potential to do so. I used a digital dropper to pull-up some of the colours from the painting. (Possibly a little crude, but certainly less so than just guessing.) I put those colours into an app, to find out to which Hue Families they belonged. I then both increased their value & greyed the results, to find lighter, more neutral versions of colours from the same Hue Family neighbourhoods. Your aesthetic choice might be to use a lovely neutral colour as mentioned by Judy below. But just in case you both fancied an alternative, the suggestions I made will give another set of options to off-set the colours in the painting. Echoing any of the colours from the artwork, through the paint colours of the walls and via textiles and accessories, will help the eye connect them visually. If you ordered some of the respective paint chips you could view alongside the painting, set against the lighting in the room, to see if you both have any preference from the suggestions. The available quality of light might make one a more obvious candidate than the others. 🌈...See MoreTerrazzo floors- which paint color matches best for walls
Comments (5)I think they all work with the floor. What do you like? My least favorites are the pinky-beiges (Naked Clay and Desert Sand). I tend to stick to cooler colors in my own house, so I would be looking at the greens and blues, but I think the warmer tones are a more natural fit for the floor. The deep terra-cottas are particularly striking. Whatever you do, don't skip testing the color in your own space....See MoreGarage concrete flooring: paint or tiles? Best way to tile?
Comments (3)@Alberto - You will need to address your questions about thinset and flexibility with your installer. Likely a professional grinding to reach a fresh, uniform surface will be necessary. Because of everything I do and use in the garage, tile would not be an option. Too likely to drop something and break a tile or bring a stone on a tire then roll over. My flooring was periodically cleaned and shined with Mop & Glow or similar. I’m sure matte surface is available Over years of use I did replace a few tile. they’re interlocking so quite simple to do...See MoreD V
