Living Room Advice Please
Comments (8)That looks so much better. To 'finesse' this new look, I would add a generous sized area rug with rich accent colors to use in couch pillows and other accents. If you decide to repaint the walls, you can use the accent rug as color inspiration for that as well. I also think an accent chair angled from the corner near the nook with that has the large potted plant would balance out the two sofas. I would choose a large square coffee table in a dark wood that would echo the feel of the sofa table. I have used the following sources to purchase affordable area rugs, pictures, etc: At Home (used to be Garden Ridge Pottery), Hobby Lobby, Kirklands, Joss and Main, Overstock, Wayfair, and Birch Lane. Some people have a lot of luck with Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Your home is lovely, and you are making it lovelier. Good luck!...See MoreLiving Room Advice
Comments (7)Before buying anything, suggest first getting a sense of how you want room to feel, as a rug especially has a big influence and there are so many looks that would suit your room (and buy correct size). Try searching on line for modern farmhouse living rooms for help. I’d look for a large coffee table (again measure and decide on best shape); https://happyhautehome.com/2020/08/20/how-to-choose-the-right-size-coffee-table/amp/ Black framed prints between lanterns would tie in nicely and consider a table with some black metal. Given TV’s size and its proximity to mantle, just accessorize hearth. Perhaps narrow wood candlesticks on one side would work. Window treatment idea Collect and save your favourite rooms and it will making choosing and coordinating room a lot easier (and at some point, consider adding something on either side of fireplace)....See MoreNeed living room advice
Comments (11)The tv is 57” across, the top of the mantle is 63” and the left side of the fireplace is 54”. We considered mounting the TV over the fireplace but the height of the TV would require us to angle our heads significantly upwards, even if the TV was tilted downwards. There exists mantle mounts which lower the tv in front of the fireplace but it is out of our budget. The mantle mount also requires larger holes to be drilled and given that this is a rental apartment, we’re refraining from that option....See MoreLiving Room Advice?
Comments (4)The room needs a little more color. I would paint an accent wall behind the sectional in a dark brownish/plum color so the sofa has something to play against. Look at Benjamin Moore 'Suede Brown'. I would replace the coffee table with an ottoman for the feet. I like the rust color from the carpet. Get something with legs so as to not hide the carpet. I would pull the rug towards the TV a foot or so....See Moretwheat1
