Exterior Trim and Stucco Color for Red Brick House - HELP

We are painting the exterior trim and the stucco (on the new extension), however, we can't decide on paint colors for trim or stucco. We want the house to look more modern while maintaining the charm with the red brick. The brick will NOT be painted.

The gray stucco in the picture is the 1st coat. It will be painted and the stucco is predominately at the back of house.

Roof for the house is brown.

Current trim color is brown.

First color I'd pull is BenM's Nantucket Gray. It's not gray. It's a grayed green.

Also, would suggest you look into a mineral paint treatment for the brick to change it to white. Check out Romabio. Can get it online or at The Home Depot.

I'm glad you're firm about not painting the brick. The brick is a natural, textured feature of your house that allows it to breathe and requires litte maintenance over time.

Since you have a visible light brown roof, your trim needs to work with that as well as the brick.

Here are houses with the same varieted brick as yours, one with a brown roof. You can pick up a greige for the trim with maybe a light blue or yellow door or this light green. Just don't do white--too much contrast.

I'm showing this for the tan. Though the door is handsome and like yours, a lighter door might be better on your house since it's receded and looks too dark right now.

If you decide to paint the siding the color of the brick, do be careful and try out some big sample boards. There are a few examples in my neighborhood of attempted matching that was "off", and it isn't a good look. Matching is challenging with the difference in textures between the brick and the siding.

Match the color of the siding to the red brick. Use white trim and dark blue or dark green shutters. Or paint the siding sage green with black shutters. Not all shutters have to be the "right size". Some houses were designed to have narrow shutters as a colorful accent, not to pretend anyone will shut them in a nor'easter.

Google "shutter colors for red brick house" and you'll see a lot of nice suggestions. I like the ones that show pale grey-blues or pale bluish-greens. I do think that red brick actually leans toward terra cotta, and red doors kind of clash with the brick. I could see the pale blues on both your shutters and door. I think I'd remove the shutters on the main window because being so close to the door, there actually might be too much color.

Thank you everyone for your comments. We decided to go with Sherwin Williams Urban Bronze for the trim. It has a nice grayish/brown hue that works with the roof in my opinion.

Ended up painting the front door the same color but it looks really blah. What color should I paint the front door so it pops and looks fun? (the light fixture and mailbox will be updated)
