Hood, cabinet, soffit issue....can't figure this out
Comments (13)I like your Houzz inspiration. I think it looks good because they've used a wide crown molding to minimize the blank space of the soffit. Would that work on the sink wall soffit too? Then I'd use a chimney hood with a wide chimney. Some are just too long and skinny, and that's going to be accentuated by your tall and narrow cabinets--three in a row! I'd also bring the window treatment up to the crown as shown in the photo, though I bet your soffit interferes with that. Or I'd add the large top molding on the window as shown in the photo with the red range. You want to create the illusion of taller windows. I think all that brings a cohesive look to the soffits, windows, cabinets, and hood. I wonder if someone with great spatial abilities could find a way to make both walls look like they were designed as a whole. The Home Decor forum might be helpful with that, but maybe moreso the Remodeling and Building a Home forums, which have some really talented posters. Post everywhere! You've been struggling with this a long time!...See MoreDoes Rangetops stick out too much on cabinets?
Comments (3)I alter granite countertops and cabinets for appliance changes regularly. It isn't a big deal. If you called me, I would insist the rangetop be on site before I arrived. This is so we can both see it is installed properly when I leave. I no longer take manufacturer's dimensions as gospel; that's an unpaid callback. Comments (33)My greater discomfort is that my existing full size fridge on the other side of the kitchen is going to stick out until we can afford a counter depth version in a year or two. That's where you might want to bump out the base cabinets (if possible). Deeper countertops are great but will be more expensive. If that wall is a straight run of cabinets (no corners), bumping out the base cabinets would be easy to do with the bonus of not having to replace the refrigerator....See MoreHow far does your range stick out past the cabinet doors?
Comments (6)Yes! Aren’t frameless cabinets the best. My friends who have remodeled didn’t even know what they were - it’s crazy how much more space you get. I didn’t know the difference when I replaced my bathroom cabinets and I was SHOCKED how much space I lost. Thankfully I learned my lesson in the bathroom and know better for my kitchen. Are you happy with your Cafe range? The white looks amazing with your cabinet color....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
