Are entertainment unit/ media units out of style?
Comments (26)We have the PB Logan in black and love it. The quality has been just fine actually. I was a bit worried but at the time, we really had no other option. We had just bought our 55" TV (or should I say DH's 55" TV. LOL!) three weeks before Hurricane Katrina hit and bought just a console for the bottom which arrived a week before the storm hit. Thank goodness. We came back to find that we'd had about 22" of water. That piece that came a week before the storm saved the new TV! Well, we had to refurnish our whole house and I decided I wanted more storage and a bigger piece. I looked at every furniture store in New Orleans for something to house a 55" TV. Everything (at the time) was made for a 50" TV but stopped just short of the dimensions of our TV. But the PB Logan fit the bill. We love it. It's a very nice piece. It's sturdy and has yet to get a scratch or anything on it and we do rotate our TV a bit sometimes. Hope that helps a bit!...See MoreHelp with the family room in our new house
Comments (19)The couple clients I had who did lots of shutters (their choice) never open the shutters, they only move the louvers. I didn't find the houses particularly dark if the louvers were directed to allow light in. I think removing them depends on what you need there for light control or privacy, what you need for view modulation, etc. I'll bet the previous owner installed this sort that do not fold up because they never opened them. From what I can tell the view doesn't look like it's anything interesting which may be why they chose them. That's not meant to be insulting. Most people's views are kinda ordinary if it's a yard and a fence....See MoreWhat do you do with this massive two story wall?
Comments (22)You have a solution to two problems right at your fingertips. Well, three actually. Your problems are: 1) there is a large empty wall to fill, causing the room to be unbalanced 2) your very large tv is hung too high 3) you don't have spare funds for decor The answer to all these problems is MOVE THE TV. Just buckle down and do it. I'm struggling to understand why you are so resistant to this idea. Put your sofa facing that wall, perpendicular to the fireplace. As funds allow, add a sofa facing the fire. Hang the tv on the wall (Low. Low.) across from the sofa. Put a door on each side of it and as funds allow, a long white tufted bench under it to bridge the gap between the doors. You could also use a long console. White. The idea is to make the two doors and whatever goes under the tv function as one unit, like a built-in cabinet. That should solve all your problems: 1) It will fill the wall 2) the tv will be at a safe viewing height 3) you haven't spent money you don't have ETA: if you do this, hang the doors and tv so the tops of all are level with each other....See MoreMedia Room In The Making, What To Add To This Room?
Comments (6)A TV that is not too big, since you are so close to it. It looks like we have the same sectional. We use it for our media room too. Ikea, right? We combined it with the dark brown media table and an open cabinet above that, in which we have the dvd's. If I recollect well it was out of the Hemnes series. We had one wall free where we placed the higher Hemnes closet with drawers and glass windows. A small table to put drinks and snacks on, proved necessary too. We bought one with a second piece of wood underneath, so one has extra space for things, like a magazine the kids are reading. We placed some (fake) nice plants (Ikea...) in it as well and it got cosy right away. We decorated with the warm yellow of Lion Kings stuffed animals and some orange as well. A throw blanket with orange and yellow in it completed it. The kids loved it....See MoreLaura Mac
