No, no, no. That wallpaper looks like it's worn out and faded--fake faded, like stone-washed jeans. And it doesn't fool anybody. It looks like the paper you can't wait to remove and replace.

It's a beautiful wallpaper. I think you could wallpaper just the two walls around the table and built in bench, and paint all the rest of the kitchen white. The areas on the other side of the room look too chopped up for wallpaper.

Haha funny you mention removing wallpaper. I took off four layers that had been painted over... super big job!!! Wallpaper right back to the 60's were on those walls!

Having stripped multiple layer of paper,(some brown and silver Mylar) I cringe at the thought of hanging paper. But those white cabinets need that touch of blue pattern on the walls. Crown molding and not paper for those soffits would look good, maybe with a plate rail to hold a couple decorative serving pieces. Hang the paper above the chair rail and stop it at an inside corner if not doing the whole kitchen. I would paper it all but the soffits.

I wouldn't add patterned wallpaper because tiled floor already has a noticeable grid pattern. My MIL's tiles have dark grout, and she has wallpaper, and it's TOO much.

I miss wallpaper. Very common where I’m from. Many walls in homes here in Texas are painted and it looks so bare and unfinished to me.

i would definitely do the wallpaper above the chair rail. Just still trying to decide if just to do the two walls around the bench in wallpaper or also that third wall ‘C’. You can see that wall in the photo below, it’s taken from inside the cooking part of the kitchen. Thanks for reminding me to be careful about my white paint selection!!!

Zimmer what do you think if I just paint Wall 'B', leave wall 'C' white. Which means the only areas wallpapered are the two walls that frame the banquette area.

Now, seeing that there are natural ending points in all directions, I think I might paper all of the walls in the nook (including C). Then echo one or more of the blues into the kitchen with rug, hand towels, kettle, etc.

I'd like to see photoshop placing medium color, e.g., blue below, with matching cushions on bench [in nice pattern ikat, etc...]

I prefer wallpaper in kitchens unlike the other posting suggesting not to. And you are considering a breakfast nook not kitchen. I think whatever walls you feel like doing would work.

Let me post a photo that carries color from seating onto window / or maybe onto the wall? Is there a window above your seating? Does area already have "alot going on"?

Wallpaper all of the walls above the painted chair rail, I think the print is lovely, the subtle colours keep it from being too busy. The pic posted by leelee gives you a perfect idea of how the wallpaper and paint will work in your space!

I would start with just the two walls around the table. That area is separated enough from the rest of the kitchen, and will put the focal point on the dining area. I don't think you need to wallpaper all the small chopped up walls on the other side of the kitchen. If you like just the 2 walls, leave it at that. If you feel it looks incomplete, then keep going with the paper.

I'd add fabric curtains to soften the wood everywhere like most kitchens... there are other styles and colors! maybe a pattern to play off pillow's pattern?

You can't go wrong with bamboo shades or match-stick blinds.

A very inexpensive way to handle the wall is a collection of large flat baskets. Also, would tie in with bamboo shades.

That wallpaper was stunning and would negate the need for artwork. You need an interior mounted blind for the window since people are sitting so close and you don't want curtains hanging into their heads - a woven roman shade would work. No rug under the table - you don't have the space for it.

I agree with most comments on this thread which is indicating to cover walls with wallpapers only. You would have been gone with either paint or wallpaper then, it would be fine, but choosing the 1 for all walls is a great choice.

I liked the wallpaper you have chosen, however, stone effect wallpaper would also be a fine choice for the walls like yours.

I know this is an old thread but I just came across it. Firstly, I love your kitchen nook. Secondly, I love that wallpaper you chose. I was watching one of those organizing shows and an episode featured Reese Witherspoon’s house. She has painted white wood and blue wallpaper in various patterns everywhere and it looks great. Its a nice blend of preppy, crisp, traditional, classic, updated.

Thank you! I haven’t been on Houzz for quite awhile. I never ended up going with the wallpaper...due to mainly cost. I still at times regret not being more daring and just going with it.

Try stenciling. My husband doesn't like wallpaper because he says it's too permanent but he is okay with stenciling. Go figure🤷‍♀️
