Lars, my mother hated brown too, to the point that she would get offended or snippy about it. When she passed, she had two big closets stuffed to the gills with clothes. Lots of colors, but no brown. I’m still kind of guessing why but after having five kids to “clean” up after, your reasoning makes sense. LOL

I'm another brown hater in cars, but I hate gray too so all even. I do like copper colors but wouldn't own one.

At the moment, I am drawn to gunmetal with dark trim and wheels and the flat paint colors on some cars. I have a navy highlander although it isn't quite as dark navy as I would like.

I love the colored jeeps so much and also the bright and pastel coopers and fiats.

I'm like Rubyclaire, usually drive white with tan interior. I purchased a new Volvo last winter and that's what I ordered, pearly white with a almond/blonde interior. Although blue would be my second choice, and I LOVE that Nissan blue. Hubby has been sort of talking about trading his truck and I've been telling him how much I love the look of the blue Titans. :) When I had my car in to Volvo last week to have the winter tires installed, there were a couple of vehicles on the lot that were sort of a denim blue. I didn't get out to take a closer look but from a distance it really appealed to me.

edited to add: I would definitely say the interior color is more important to me than the exterior. I, personally, will not drive a car with a black interior so when I was shopping, if a certain color was only available with a black interior - I wasn't getting that color.

Has no one mentioned shades of khaki? One of my favorites, for certain vehicles. I don't think I'd like it in a luxury sedan, but I once had a Jeep Grand Cherokee in a great color (for me): khaki with undertones of subtle metallic gold.

When I was young I wanted a sports car in British Racing Green. I got the sports car (Fiat Spyder convertible), but it was bright red. I still see that green around once in a while. Still like it.

I had a MG that was that green, Alisande. And one of my other favorite 4Runners was Anthracite. It was a pretty rich brown with a hint of gray in it.

Mustang is available in green.

A mustang looks good in just about any color.

My cars since 2003 have all been black with a light beige/tan interior. Hard to find - some have had to be special ordered as most black cars have a black interior. I HATE black interiors - hot and I feel like I'm in the grave.

I would consider a really good, very dark midnight blue, also with beige interior.

I know - they show dirt/mud splatters more. So be it. There is just something about a shiny black car.

My car will match my dogs hair next time for sure.

"Midnight Blue" reminds me of my mother-in-law. My in-laws always had Cadillacs, and never let them get very old. In the early 1970s, when those cars were big, and the engines monstrous, she got a Midnight Blue Coupe De Ville with white leather upholstery. She promptly had some outfits made for herself in these colors. She was a beautiful woman, and although this particular action sounds rather shallow, she was kind and a lovely mother-in-law. I hope she wasn't disappointed that when she gifted the car to me I made no changes to my wardrobe. :-)

I like a shiny black cars too. Something classy about them. I drive SUV's and my kids used to refer to my black one as "The FBI car".

I really enjoyed my MG until I saw one in a wreck. Then I just felt vulnerable. Once it became unreliable (the electrical system was wacky) I traded it in for a Jeep CJ7. Loved that thing, too. Almond colored with a nutmeg hard top. Being up higher was nice.

When I bought my Escape in 2015, I asked for a red one. They didn't have a red one in stock and the salesperson offered me a one called Sunburst which is like a burnt orange. I turned it down and went with a white one. Every second car on the road seems to be white. I have the Canadian Flag on flying from my back window so I can easily find my car in a parking lot. I told the sales manager yesterday that when they are ready to get rid of the 2018 Titanium Escapes that I want one in Ruby Red.

There's a smart phone app called Find My Car that might be useful, but you have to remember to set the position of the car (uses GPS) before you walk away. If you can get yourself reasonably close to your car in a lot, usually there's a key fob button that will flash lights or honk the horn.

Some cars also have a smart phone app with various remote features (honk horn, flash lights, turn on ventillation) from a greater distance than what a fob will broadcast.

Speaking of colors, I seen the cutest truck today on the highway. It was an antique one with the cab having a rounded look. I have no idea what kind it was but it's color was like a lime green. It was a color that made me smile and I'm sure it could be found in a parking lot quite easily!

Mtn, my high school colors were orange and black, so you would have been a rockstar with that car.

Color of a vehicle isn't real important to me. However I don't care for gray or silver, black or white. I do like a nice green and I've had a couple brown vehicles. My new car is a cinnamon color (a reddish brown) and I like it.

If I get a new Subaru Forester, I want forest green. Otherwise I care not a noodle.

Speaking of which, I saw a gorgeous vintage BMW at a grocery store today. Big black sedan. On the checkout line I complimented the owner on his car. He told me it was a 1995--with 450,000 miles on it!

Black exterior only. My last car was black with tan interior; on hot days, it stayed pretty cool on the inside. New car is black with black interior; HOT, HOT, HOT! on hot days- I love the looks, but it is very HOT on a hot day!

Even though I’ve suffered the consequenses of a dark interior too many times to count, I’ve never been tempted to ask or look for a lighter interior. I can’t say I’m all that fond of the lighter interiors but I can see why they’re popular now especially if you have leather seating.

Since manufacturers offer seat and steering wheel warmers, maybe the next gadget they put in cars should be some kind of cooling option for them as well. Getting burned is much more painful that being cold.

True most of the time, but for those (like me) with Raynaud's, cold can be wildly painful. I've never had a heated steering wheel, but it would be wonderful. Maybe next time . . .

I love blue cars and red. But I've bought and driven cars in a wide range of colors. Basically, it's the price and availability that determined what we got. If/when I have the choice, I'd probably go for red or a medium blue. Brown, black, and green at the bottom of the pack, but then it also depends on the type of car. If it's a cute small car, I'd consider a bright green.

Since I keep on forgetting where I parked, maybe yellow or orange is the way to go.

I’m sorry Alisande, I don’t know much about Raynaud’s but have heard it can be difficult to live with in general. This new car of mine has the heated wheel, it’s been below freezing the past few days so I gave it a try. I don’t know if it’s the car make or the gadget, but I wasn’t real impressed. Now the seat warmer.....that’s a different story! It’s soooo cozy!

Yup. The ability to both heat and cool the individual seats ends the typical man-is-hot-woman-is-cold battle of the sexes.

Hubby's pickup has the option to either heat or cool the seats and it is a wonderful thing. It also has dual temperature controls, so he can have his side 65 degrees while my side is at a much more comfy 73 - 75.

Mtn, while your Monte Carlo had an unfortunate color scheme, I sure did like that body style back in the mid to late 70's.

We've had cars with seat heaters in our area of mild winters and mild summers, including my wife's current car. I know in one car, we never used it and I believe in her car she never uses it either. Maybe some love it or it's useful in areas of more extreme temperatures (as in the north inland part of California where I think Dawn lives) but maybe it's something that sounds more useful than it is.

We've also had many cars with separate temperature settings left and right and we don't seem to have ever used that either.

My Forester has heated seats but in the winter by the time it is warm I am already where I need to be. I have thought about the heated steering wheel but since you have to hold it to drive before it warms up have discounted it as an important item to have.

OMG i could give up a lot of the bells and whistles in our cars but not heated seats. Ours warm up very quickly. Love them when it is winter, but I also use them to extend convertible season into those sunny autumn days that are a tad too crisp.

Sorry my butt is not what gets cold it is my arms so heated seats and steering wheels although they may be lovely do not help me get and stay warm.

Another vote for heated seats. I wouldn't want to be without them here in the northeast. They heat up quickly in my Outback, as they did in the 4Runner. The back as well as the seat heats up, resulting in a lovely warm-all-over feeling.

I love heated seats, I probably have mine on 10 months out of the year. It makes me warm all over and keeps me from getting stiff on long drives, and so much is an hour or more away around here. And they heat up fast, less than a minute.

Another Outback driver who finds the seats heat up quickly. Love them!

My most recent loaner car is a 2018 VW Tiguan. It's loaded with convenience features like heated seats, apple play, navigation, and other connectivity features too numerous to mention. The most useful features for me will be the heated mirrors and three row seating to accommodate the grandchildren and their stuff. Of course I'll use the navigation system when traveling, and probably the heated seats and steering wheel since it gets cold in central Ohio, Michigan and Canada.

Love my heated seats and wouldn't want to give them up. The amount of heat is adjustable (I think that's true for all of them) and mine heat up quickly. I'm in the Northeast, too.

Just starting to put on the heated seats in the Outback since it went from 80's and 90's to cold. And I have white with the ivory interior, which is like a million other white Outbacks. I bought it CPO, so although I like the White Satin Pearl it would not be my first choice. All my other cars have been blue or red. My former Forester was a brighter blue like the OP. It was called Pacifica Blue and always easy to find in a parking lot. If I get another Outback, I want the Wilderness Green with Java Brown interior, similar to the Saddle interior My3Dogs posted.

And, of course, I have red Mustang GT 5.0 L convertible that looks almost orange in the sun. I have white leather interior and a white top. And I agree Mustangs look good in any color!

The only “gadgets” I needed was electric seating and blind spot warnings. All the other fancy bells and whistles are a given that I could easily live without, even the heated seats and mirrors. I suspect that thought will change though after the first snow, especially with leather seating! I do appreciate that it has memory for 2 seating set ups; that makes it much easier for DH and I to swap cars.

The blind spot warning is a nice feature as well as the SOS button and Service Request Button.

Along with heated seats and mirrors, my Audi has a heated steering wheel option that I love. Both the seats and steering wheel heat almost instantaneously. Although it's not as cold here in the PNW as some places, I love having a warm steering wheel most days/mornings of the year. I also wanted a back up camera, as I'm always delivering and picking up my grandson from school and those little ones can be hard to see walking behind the car.

One feature I hate about this car, though, is they placed the bright headlight indicator on the lower left side of the instrument panel and, even though I'm not particularly short, I cannot see it without raising myself up to peer over the steering wheel. Not the wheel, but the center spoke/bar of the wheel; it hides the indicator. My good fried with a newer Volvo SUV says the same is true in her car...she can't see the indicator without lifting herself up to see over the wheel spoke.

It also has the radio controls on the center console, so if you bump it or set your purse on the digital station settings, it whacks everything up and you lose all your presets. It's obvious that men engineer all these vehicles as the features are often not female user friendly.

I live in bitter cold Michigan and rely on autostart with all the heaters on. When I get in everything is warm. Ahhh. I love technology.

I live in hot and humid Alabama and what i wouldn't give for air conditioned seats...........

On 10/25, I bought the car I showed above, and have lots of of 'programming' to do on all the settings to make it like my first one. I love it, and 'my 3 dogs' and dogs that I do rescue transports for will enjoy the second seat cover that I bought that keeps the leather in great condition. The first one lasted three years.

I’m in Michigan too and this will be my first winter with all the goodies. Isn’t it funny how we do just fine when something isn’t on our radar but once it is, it’s a must have?

Oly I have to agree, sometimes it does seem like women (and shorter people as well) are left out of the equation entirely. I test drove a Jeep Cherokee that was one of their mid range trims but the seats weren’t electric. I’m under 5 foot and they sat so much lower than the rear view mirrors that I couldn’t see around them. Someone 5’5 and up wouldn’t have a problem. But when I was turning, they blocked my view entirely and I was basically making the turn blind. It scared the bejeepers out of me. And now, only the most expensive trims have electric seating so you have to get all the other bells and whistles even if you don’t want or care about them.
