Love what you/DH have done with the entertainment center. It's by far the nicest home crafted piece I've seen. The barn tin is a perfect touch! I also love the pieces in your room -- lots of interesting pieces and those candlesticks are JUST what I've been looking for on my mantle. I agree with decorpas that you may want to consider rearranging the furniture to provide a more cozy space in front of the fireplace and tv. Perhaps as simple as swapping the sofa and chairs. You have done a good job of adding visual interest higher up on the walls-- the higher mantle and beams demand interest higher up. The only thing I struggle with is that it leaves you with an uncomfortable spot between the fireplace and the mantle.. I am not sure what yuo can do there. Perhaps an interesting iron piece? I don't think it needs to be anything too big or heavy-- just a touch of visual interest. Again.. great job on the entertainment center. I just love it.

I am completely stumped how to decorate the wall around my tv. I feel like it definitely needs something but have no idea what to put and how to balance it without it looking busy. Help!

It's a lovely room with lots of potential. I would paint the TV wall in a calm, deep accent color. Like a subtle taupe gray to compliment the fireplace and the couch. Add a long console table under the tv in a warm wood tone. (Tall enough to hide wires and give a focal point and wide enough to add thin accent lamps or tall candle sticks or vases.) Move the plant to the left corner. Center the wine rack on its current wall on the section away from the cut out. Find a unique mirror to hang over the wine rack to add depth to the room. (Like a window would.) Find matching pieces of large artwork and hang on either side of the TV - spaced just a few inches past the corners of the large console.. You can place the lamp to the left of the wine rack for added light in that space. A warm wood tone mantle will also add warmth to your room. Good luck! I have a question. How would you arrange this room if you didn't have a tv in it? The sectional will always be off center because of the walkway. The way you have it now looks good in photos, but does it feel closed off to you in real life? Right now you have to walk to the end of the room to get into the room. Unless you mostly enter it from the dining room. How often do you watch tv? If the tv were on the wall, would people always be walking in front of it during normal viewing hours? As I said, I generally do not like tv's placed in a walkway, but it might not be an issue in this case. When off, it would look like art. Then you can decorate over the sofa wall and keep the fireplace as the focal point. Either way, I think side tables with lamps would cozy the place up.
