Comments (25)Hi all, I haven't been on here for a while because I have been sick and am in the process of tring to get my disability. Because of this I have not been able to work in 9 months. So I am going to have to try and sell my 50's O'keefe and Merritt stove, This Baby is in excellent condition and everything works great on it. It is perfect on the outside and a good cleaning on the inside will be really all it needs. If anyone knows of anyone that may be interested in this beauty, please wmail me at psa195460@yahoo.com I really need to sell this because of my medical problems and I would like to get at least 2000.00 for it. It sounds like a lot of money for this to me too, but as I said it is a beauty and works great. thanks so much...See More1940's/1950's Pomona Ceramic Tiles....where do I find more?
Comments (11)I was trying to figure out what to do with my kitchen tile---yellow, probably 50s.....same kind of a thing as you.....caused by replacing a countertop that had post-formed backsplash. I found some places that would custom make tile to match. Try searching on "custom replacement tile" or something like that. As it turned out, I found a very close match in new tile so I didn't have to have any made. Weirdly, I found a close color match at Home Depot from the United States Ceramic Tile Company. The sample board for special orders was placed way up high on the wall and I almost missed it. I did separate the old tile from the new tile with a black liner tile so that the colors weren't right next to each other. They are very, very close in color though. I practically had a nervous breakdown before I found them, expecting to have a huge problem. If you can't find something, can you think of any kind of a skinny little cabinet or something to put there that wouldn't look totally odd? Sometimes the stuff I like the best comes out of a situation like this....See MoreO'Keefe & Merritt Stove
Comments (83)I lost my beloved 1953 O'Keefe & Merritt when we downsized a couple of years ago, but yes, the oven and broiler doors were always very hot. I suspect the insulation was pretty much shot. It's too call for anyone to call Child Protective on me, so I'll admit that when my then-toddler (now age 45, and her own kids are mid-teens) was heading toward the broiler door one day and reaching slowly toward it, I said loudly and firmly, "Christy! Do NOT touch that! It's very hot! You'll get burned and it will hurt!" I stayed very close but did not stop her as she reached out one inquisitive finger and got a tiny blister. I gained a heck of a lot of credibility that day... There are ways to take an O'Keefe & Merritt apart, remove the old insulation, and replace it... A good idea we never acted on. You might consider doing that, for safety's sake. There are also some rebuilder$ who do that work, but you'd need to live in or near California....See MoreIs this square-round table 1940s vintage
Comments (13)My MIL had these chairs and a similar table, but the backs was cained. When she died the set was passed to a grand son who recently passed them to his sister, newly married. I was shocked at the cheap IKEA set he preferred. I tried to find the set by doing a search so I could date it. I tried MCM and got no where. I believe her set was maple and the table was round w/o the leaves with a center pedestal leg arrangement. There was a discussion on keeping or passing on hand me downs two weeks ago. This style seems very non specific to me. One that could blend in many decors, not overly large, ornate,or bold. After seeing what he chose vs this set it is easier for me to understand that some styles just would not work in some homes,no matter how "free"....See Morevenmar
