I know this is a response to a very old post. But Chromatic, if I understand this method correctly (pix would have helped on this site!) they suggest a seam down the center of the sheet. Pretty easy peasy. However, I think that would be a little unstable. During sleep, moving around may put too much stress on that stitched seam down the middle. I still think the best option would be to alter the corners. And I would also flat fell or enclose the corner seam again. Maybe that is the perfection seam"stress" (there may be a reason the word "stress" is at the end of seam in that word!) in me, but I think it is the better and more stable route. Now, the only other way I would do that middle seam option, is this. Follow steps 1 through 4 from the "King to Queen fitted sheet" site you recommend.(Make sure to pin your middle seam with just a little "give" or ease so it is not so tight it rips during sleep.) Now, after you sew the seam, don't cut it, but rather lay the excess fabric down onto the sewing line so you have the excess fabric spread equally on both sides. Like one big pleat. Pin in place and THEN sew a topstitch line down each side of the big pleat along the edge. And you are done. This will reinforce and protect that original middle seam. NO CUTTING involved! That is what I would do. Rosie

You can get stretchy things that go under the mattress and clamp on to the sheets to hold them on at places like BB&B. I've used them in my camper. :) You could also get an inexpensive but thick memory foam topper and pretend you have a pillowtop.

I have actually taken elastic and sewn it on the corner of the sheets. Put the sheets on and take a length of elastic and safety pins. Put it triangular to the corner and pin one side about six inches from the corner of the sheet. Put the sheet on the bed and pull the other side underneath the mattress and pin it till you get the fit you need. Then go back, reinforcing the areas where you attach the elastic, and sew it to the sheets. I've tried the garters and they have a tendency to release.

there is a plant propogation book i have wherein the author describes his own mist system. that author has a large black coil of hose in the roof of his greenhouse so that water can be heated before reaching the mist nozzles. that's at least one vote for using warm water and keeping the cuttings reasonably warm as they root. just thought i would toss that in! lol. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: mosaic z8 LA (My Page) on Sun, May 11, 03 at 11:59 With such a setup you could probably root roses under mist all winter here in Louisiana. My batteries did last all season last year, but it was only opening that valve 4x a day for 3 weeks, and then 1x every 4 days for a couple of months. And even though I had a pressure regulator on there, I kept having a problem with the heads blowing off! (Their drippers work perfectly by the way so it's nothing against the company) I ordered foggers from Misty Mate this year and they put out a super fine fog. Perfect for propagation. They are a litte more expensive than the ones from Dripworks but worth it. And if you ask they will ship the misting heads for $1.50. I went to HD and bought a 10-24 tap and drill set (3.00) and drilled holes in my 1/2" cvpvc and the heads just screwed right in! I bought a Melnor timer at HD for $39 and it has 1 minute spray options so I've got it set for 1 minute every 10 minutes. Can't remember the model number but it's not the one on the HD website. I hope to finish my new propagation box soon. I built one on a stand this year so I can move it around easily. Wouldn't you know, HD has plastic sheeting made just for greenhouses that I used! It's not the real thick heavy stuff either. It's only 4mil and is crystal clear see-thru! Hopefully I'll be finished this week!
